28 August - Firsts League Season Starts

Following dismissal from the Stroud Charity Cup last Wednesday at the hands of Frampton United, another newcomer to GNSL Division Two, the Firsts will be looking to steady themselves in their first league outing away at Dursley Town.

The Reserves played their first league game a couple of weeks ago against Tuffley Rovers Reserves losing out by 3 goals to 1.

24 August - Firsts Bow Out Of Reg Davis Cup

Following a disciplined performance in their convincing 2-0 win over Shortwood United Reserves in the previous round, the Firsts went into this quarter final filled with confidence.

Northern Senior newcomers Moreton Rangers were well organised and quickly punished a Tetbury side that wasn't playing with the discipline and confidence shown against Shortwood. A sloppy pass was intercepted on 35 minutes allowing Moreton to go in 1-0 up at half-time.

Luce Clears v Moreton

The second half started more constructively for Tetbury who were putting together some good passes and it was against the run of play that Moreton got their second goal on the hour.

We then struggled to regain our earlier momentum and the game finished with Moreton Rangers progressing into the semi-final.

Following this poor performance and an indifferent pre-season Stuart has some difficult days ahead in the run up to the 2011 league campaign.

21 August - Today's Game

The Firsts welcome Division 2 newcomers Moreton Rangers to Preston Park this afternoon in the Quarter Final of the Reg Davis Memorial Trophy. A win will secure a semi-final spot against either Brockworth Albion or Longlevens AFC.

19 August - Shortwood United Reserves 0 v 2 Tetbury Town

Last night's victory sees the Firsts into the Quarter Final of the Reg Davis Cup and a home tie at Preston Park against Moreton Rangers this Saturday, 21 August with a 3pm kick-off.

The game was originally scheduled to be away but Moreton's facilities are not available

18 August - Reg Davis Memorial Cup

Following last week's win over Wotton Rovers in the First Round, the Firsts are at Shortwood United Reserves this evening in Round 2.

The team will be looking to progress under new manager, Stuart Freeman, following pre-season games against Kings Stanley and Cirencester Town Reserves. Stuart returns to the senior management after nearly 3 seasons following his son's endeavours on the field.

28 July - Tetbury Summer Show Dance

11 June - Ladies Appoint New Manager

Last night the Club appointed Steve Provis as the Ladies Team Manager.

Steve, who lives in Chippenham, has a wealth of experience in ladies football with Chippenham FC both at youth and senior level and has the appropriate FA Coaching qualifications. He has previously held the position of Fixtures Secretary with the Wiltshire County Ladies League so will bring organisation and leadership to the squad.

His first sporting love was road cycling/racing where he got into the UK top 120, a position that required a very disciplined approach to training and racing that brought with it high expectations of those working with him in the team.

Steve will be a huge asset, bringing the much needed guidance that the ladies need and it is hoped that he can also attract new blood to the ladies' setup in preparation for the 2010/2011 season.

Welcome, Steve.

7 June - Coachfest Gets Under Way!

Tetbury Town Football Club's Coachfest training programme for young players got under way last Wednesday at Preston Park, Tetbury.

More than 50 children aged between seven and 17 came along to take advantage of the free training sessions, hosted by Tetbury Town youth and senior team coaches, and assisted by players from the club's first team. COACHFEST is running over the summer months to give existing and new youth team players a chance to hone their skills and techniques before the start of next season. All of the coaches and first team players taking part are giving their time very generously to encourage young players, regardless of their ability.

The COACHFEST aim is to help all players maximize their potential and improve their fitness, while competing at a level that keeps them interested and challenged.

COACHFEST is a free event - and it's good fun. Sessions take place from 6.30 pm to 8.00 pm every Wednesday throughout June and July at Preston Park. Those taking part learn skills and techniques covering all aspects of the beautiful game and sessions are tailored to all ages, providing something for everyone.

With World Cup fever about to strike, now's your chance to actually play football and learn how to be as good as Beckham, Rooney etc, instead of just sitting around watching it!

31 May - Reserves Win Promotion!

The second team have been invited into Stroud & District League Division 1, the highest level attained by a Reserve side in the history of Tetbury Town Football Club, following another successful season

It was announced following the awards ceremony last Saturday evening at the Clubhouse. After the final presentation, Chairman Mike Harding called Carl Wait, Reserves manager, back to the microphone. Carl duly invited the Reserves squad back to the stage. Captain Danny Sharpe was the only player to know of the promotion beforehand. You can imagine the reaction!

Congratulations to the lads for a job well done and here's to a successful campaign in Stroud One.

12 May - Stroud Charity Cup Winners!

Tetbury Town 3 v 1 Stonehouse Town
Stroud Charity Cup Winners 2009/2010

Runners Up in the league followed by Stroud Charity Cup success at Shortwood tonight. Congratulations from everyone associated with this great club off the field to those on it! Another proud moment in the Club's history.

10 May - Outgunned!

Tetbury Town Reserves 0 v 8 Frampton United
The gap in League positions that separates Frampton and the Reserves counted for so much in tonight's one-sided encounter over at Shortwood in the Stroud Charity Cup Final. The Reserves went 1-0 down in under a minute when 'keeper Ant Wait was beaten at the second attempt following an initial strike from a long throw-in. A penalty conversion, following a blatant push from defender Ben Jackson saw Tetbury go into the half-time break 2-0 behind but with all to play for.

Danny Sharpe v Frampton United

The second-half saw Frampton dominate in all areas with good passing and movement and a difference in fitness and accuracy that highlighted the 16 place divide. Frampton, a side on the ascendancy who romped to the Division One championship, ran out deserved winners in the end, adding six more including another penalty.

To end the season this way is a bitter pill for the Reserves to swallow but we know they'll come out fighting in August for the 2010/2011 season. Hard luck, fellas!

10 May - Cup Final Week

Tonight the Reserves meet Stroud League Division One Champions, Frampton United in the Section 'B' Final at Shortwood. Kick Off is 7pm. On Wednesday, it's the turn of the Firsts who take on Stonehouse Town on Wednesday in the Section 'A' final, again at Shortwood with a 7pm kick-off.

Sandwiched between these two, also with a 7pm kick-off, is the Club's Annual General Meeting at the Clubhouse tomorrow.

8 May - County League Beckons!

Following the defeat of Longlevens by new champions Sharpness this afternoon, Tetbury Town are officially proclaimed Runners-Up in GNSL Division 1 and will play their football in the Gloucestershire County League next season. Congratulations to all squad members and to manager, Doug Gray and his assistant Alan Ward!

Doug and Alan came to Tetbury in November 2008 when the First team were languishing just off the foot of the table. Having taken control of the squad and assessed the size of the task they committed to achieving a respectable position by season's end, a goal which was met when the team finished 8th in the table.

Having built a solid squad, the ambition for 2009/2010 was to make a concerted effort to win promotion and 9 months on they have reached another milestone in Tetbury Town's history.

7 May - So Close - Part II

Stonehouse Town Reserves 4 v 2 Tetbury Town Reserves
The Reserves couldn't get the point they needed to secure promotion last night over at Stonehouse. Andy Baker scores v Stonehouse

More information as and when we receive it.

5 May - So Close

Tetbury Town 0 v 0 Sharpness
The Firsts league season ended tonight with a 0-0 draw up at Preston Park in front of a good crowd who were willing the boys to victory and possible promotion.
Jason Hoare lets one fly v Sharpness

It looks as though that opportunity has gone for another season but there is a glimmer of hope insomuch as Longlevens (4th) still have to play Broadwell (3rd) and Sharpness (1st). Broadwell's final game is away to Wotton Rovers (3rd from bottom) so this thing may still go to the wire, but its out of our hands. Report and pictures of tonight's game to come.

3 May - Hall's Haul

Tetbury Town 4 v 1 Dursley Town
Not totally satisfied with his tally on Saturday, Phil scored all four yesterday in the Stroud Charity Cup semi-final win against Dursley Town, bringing his weekend tally to 9 and his season's bag to a very impressive 46! Phil's second against Dursley

We now meet Stonehouse Town in the Section 'A' final at Shortwood on Wednesday 12 May, 2 days after the Reserves meet Frampton United in the Section 'B' final. Oh what it is to be Orange! Gallery updated.

1 May - Saturday's Results

Barnwood United 0 v 5 Tetbury Town
Phil Hall bagged all five today with a result that puts us back in second place in GNSL 1. Report to follow.

Tetbury Town Reserves 9 v 0 Shurdington Rovers
Goals came thick and fast as the Reserves stamped their authority on this game; a result that leaves them needing 1 point from their remaining game for promotion.
Sharpe bags No.6

The Thirds game was postponed.

30 April - Weekend Fixtures

Firsts have a busy weekend with an important league game away to Barnwood United tomorrow and the Stroud Charity Cup semi-final against Dursley Town on Sunday at Preston Park.

GNSL 1 Table

The Reserves are at home to Shurdington Rovers in the penultimate game of the season. A win tomorrow will be another giant step towards promotion.

SDFL 2 Table

The Thirds, fresh from their Runners Up performance on Tuesday will be looking for points - one will do - against CHQ United, away in the beautiful village of Hatherop.

29 April - Thirds Fall At Final Hurdle

Tetbury Town 'A' 3 v 6 C&G F.C.
As has happened in the past, the Thirds can look back with pride on their journey to the Final of the GFA County Cup, but now that the journey has ended they will also reflect on what might have been had they taken their chances and not made some fundamental schoolboy errors when defending.Shirty rounds the keeper for number 3

Tetbury's game started in the worst possible way when keeper Andy Cook totally misjudged the bounce of the ball and it sailed over his head giving the Cheltenham side a gift start. Tetbury soon got back into their stride and chances fell to both Danny Sharpe and Jimmy Sherwood. It was these two who crafted the equaliser on the half hour Sharpe tapping in from a yard out. HT 1-1.

Tetburys took the lead following some neat and tidy football from Diddy Jackson in midfield with James Meacham getting the goal. We were unable to capitalise on this and allowed C&G to dominate the following 20 mins during which they scored 3 goals. It was Jackson again who was the supplier for Tetbury's 3rd with Sherwood finishing neatly.

Tetbury's manager Jason Williams then introduced two of his substitutes, Ryan Leather into midfield and George Harding onto the left flank. Harding was unlucky with a shot that hit the bar following which C&G broke for their 5th, which was closely followed by their 6th that all but finished the game. Numerous chances fell to Tetbury in the last frantic 10 minutes but it was C&GFC that came out the deserved 6-3 winners. Pictures now in gallery

26 April - Wally Smith Cup Final Pictures

Following yesterday's victory for Wotton Rovers 'A' over Wotton Rovers 'B', the gallery will have pictures of the game available first thing tomorrow...and we mean first thing for all insomniacs out there.

26 April - Saturday's Results

Sharpness 3 v 1 Tetbury Town
Probably Tetbury's most important fixture in recent weeks ended in defeat over at Sharpness. Having been overtaken in the league by their rivals following a midweek fixture, Tetbury started brightly enough with good midfield possession creating numerous chances. One taken by veteran defender Kev Purnell (twice in 2 weeks, Kev!) gave Town the lead on 16 minutes. Kev Purnell scores another textbook header

Sharpness responded by upping their game and duly equalised on 23 minutes. The score remained at 1-1 until the 55th minute when a lofted corner to the far post was headed back into the 6-yard box where a cheeky back-heel was enough to give the home team a 2-1 advantage. Sharpness, now in command, began to dominate and, despite Town's efforts to get their passing game going again, a third goal from the home side sealed their fate. Tetbury's cries for offside went unheeded by the referee and the gamed ended leaving Town needing to win their three remaining fixtures to keep alive the prospect of County League football next season.

Tetbury Town Reserves 5 v 0 Dursley Town Reserves
The Reserves remain firmly on track with their 4th victory in 8 days, scoring twelve and conceding one. Five came today in an assured performance against Dursley Town Reserves with goals from Byron (2), Ben, Danny and Deaks. Now in 2nd place 2 points behind Horsley following their draw with Stonehouse Reserves who we play on the last day of the season. Another nail-biting end to a second-team season...no wonder Carl's got no hair.

Tetbury Town 'A' 1 v 2 Poulton
Poulton last won a game on September 19 2009...against Tetbury Town 'A' so the result on Saturday was, we hope, a wake-up call for the Thirds as they look forward to tomorrow night's County Cup Final.

24 April - Annual General Meeting

Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Club will be held at Tetbury Town FC Clubhouse, Off New Church Street, Tetbury on Tuesday 11 May 2010 commencing at 7:00pm.

24 April - Today's Games

Some siginificant fixtures today as we move towards season's end. The Firsts visit Sharpness this afternoon. Having been overtaken by Sharpness in the league during the week, it will be important to put in a strong performance.

The Reserves with 2 mid-week victories welcome Dursley Town Reserves to the Rec. Following a lackustre performance in the return against Whiteshill on Tuesday, the team then put on a good display of all-round ability with goals from Sharpe & Deakin (2 each) in the 4-0 dismantling of Quedgeley. Third in the table with 50, behind Stonehouse on 52 and Horsley on 54, 3 games to play and the top two playing today, maximum points are a must for Carl and his players...and did we mention the goal difference? The Rec. Kick-Off 2.30pm

With a cup final coming up on Tuesday and a mid-week defeat by a one goal margin against Oakridge, the Thirds will be looking for a psychological boost against bottom team Poulton as they prepare for the big night. Preston Park. Kick-Off 2.30pm

24 April - Important News

It was postponed at very short notice. The game will now take place tomorrow, Sunday 25 April at the same kick-off time 6.30pm. Contact Wayne for latest on 07940 700324

17 April - Today's Results

The Firsts beat Cheltenham Civil Service 4-0 in the reverse of last week's fixture, the Reserves who played Gloucester Civil Service in a mid-week encounter losing 3-2 having been 2-0 to the good, staged a true reversal this afternoon at the Rec where goals from Byron, Tom Deakin and a wonder goal from Rich Horton made it a 3-0 victory. Steve Marchant outwits the Apperley BrosThe Thirds, a couple of miles away at Shipton Moyne in a local derby match with league leaders Avonvale United, went down 3-0.

10 April - Saturday Results

Cheltenham Civil Service 1 v 4 Tetbury Town
Tetbury travelled to bottom of the league Cheltenham Civil Service knowing that this game wouldn't be easy but if they applied themselves, worked hard and got the three points then they would have gained the psychological advantage going into the return fixture at Preston Park next Saturday. Six points from these two games would certainly keep them in contention at the top of the Northern Senior League table. Tetbury got off to a great start when they were awarded a penalty after 4 minutes which top scorer Phil Hall comfortably converted, the lead didn't last long though, the equaliser coming on 8 minutes following some very lazy defending from the Tetbury midfield. The first half continued with the quality of football being 'not very good' to say the least. HT 1-1.

Kev Purnell scores textbook header

Tetbury started the second half a lot brighter following some sharp words from manager Doug Gray, chances falling to Simpson, Lavis and Weston but the goal didn't come. On 65 minutes Lavis was replaced by Harding who was immediately involved with a shot from 18 yards that skimmed the far post and crossbar, then on 70 minutes the breakthrough came when Simpson clinically finished on the near post. Tetbury continued to pressure their hosts winning a string of corner kicks, from which center-half Kev Purnell connected with a textbook header the get Tetbury's third on 75 minutes and his celebrations showed how much this goal meant. Civil Service heads dropped and Tetbury capitalised with Phil Hall scoring his second and Tetbury's fourth. A welcome three points for the Town setting up an interesting reverse fixture next Saturday.

Whiteshill United 0 v 5 Tetbury Town Reserves
Tetbury Town 'A' 0 v 3 Bibury
T J Henderson v Bibury

10 April - Weekend Games

Only one game at home today; the Thirds take on Bibury, currently second in Cirencester League Division 1. Kick-Off 2.30pm at Preston Park.

The Firsts travel to bottom club, Cheltenham Civil Service, where they'll be looking for all three points to keep promotion in their sights. The Reserves travel to Whiteshill United following their midweek game away at Shurdington where goals from Ben Lloyd and Andy Baker earned another three points in the 2-0 victory with what Carl described as 'a solid performance on an awful pitch'

Tomorrow, the Ladies take on AEK Boco up at Preston Park with a 2.30pm kick-off.

4 April - Tetbury Ladies in Gallery

4 April - Last Minute Winner Keeps Firsts In Contention

Tetbury Town 2 v 1 Stonehouse Town
An injury time strike by Rich Jones from a chance created by Super-Sub Liam Lavis gave Tetbury all three points in the rain at Preston Park yesterday. Stonehouse opened the scoring but Lee Simpson almost immediately pulled one back. 20 minutes gone, 1-1. That's the way it stayed until Liam won his tussle with the keeper (see the gallery) and Rich finished to make it 2-1 and game over. Picture shows Liam robbing the keeper.

Liam Lavis robs Stonehouse Keeper
The Reserves game against Stonehouse Reserves was postponed and the Thirds gained a point away at Oaksey with a 2-2 draw.

The gallery has been updated with pictures from yesterday's Firsts game, last week's Reserves, Thirds and Under 10s' games. Pictures, as always, courtesy of Marc Giddings. Remember, all pictures are available for personal use. A small donation to the Club is all we ask.

28 March - Tetbury Reserves - Cup Finalists!

Tetbury Town Reserves 2 v 1 Randwick
There was a good turnout at Tetbury Rec on Sunday for the semi final of the Stroud Charity Cup, which turned out to be a great game fought between two very good and committed teams. Tetbury Town has most of the early chances and were unlucky when a defensive mix-up allowed Randwick to score just before the half time whistle. But despite this set back Tetbury came back with great spirit, which was not deterred even when their goalkeeper was taken off through injury.

Danny Lees scores

Luckily Tetbury had another keeper on the bench and his solid efforts, combined with a very strong and disciplined defence, kept Tetbury in the game. With the midfield winning the battle and creating chances, it was only a matter of time before Tetbury scored. The first goal, pictured above, came from new young player Danny Lees. There followed a nail biting 15 minutes with both teams pushing hard but it was Tetbury that secured victory thanks to another fine goal from newcomer Danny Lees. Tetbury will now play Frampton in the final in a few weeks time.

27 March - Saturday's Results

Ramblers 0 v 0 Tetbury Town

Tetbury travelled to Gloucester on Saturday hoping to pick up three much needed points in order to get their challenge for the Northern Senior League back on track. Ramblers fielded a much changed side from the previous meeting between these clubs earlier this season. This Ramblers side had more energy and willingness to work for each other, which enabled them to put Tetbury under pressure for the first 20 minutes. As the half evolved Tetbury gradually started to dominate the game with chances falling to Danny Sharpe and new signing John Ford who was brought in by Doug Gray to fill in for injured striker Nik Pegler.

The second half saw Tetbury once again on top and creating many chances but unable to finish. The 0-0 final score was very frustrating for the Tetbury side. Three draws in the last three games meant only three points from a possible nine, making the title challenge very difficult.

Tetbury Town 'A' 0 v 3 Real Fairford

23 March - Gloucestershire Groundsman Of The Year

Congratulations to Dave Norris for reaching the National Judging stage of Groundsman Of The Year competition. He was nominated in first place by Gloucestershire F.A. and will now compete nationally with the first placed nominees from the other Counties in England.

Dave is pictured (second from right) above with Dave Roberts (right) and Bruce Elliott (left), the F.A. Judges for the national competition, who visited Preston Park bright and early this morning to discuss the work that he does, and the challenges he has undoubtedly faced over the Christmas period. Well done Dave. Also pictured is Club Chairman, Mike Harding. Picture courtesy of S. Brooke.

21 March - Saturday's Results

Tetbury Town 1 v 1 Bredon
Tetbury's championship challenge takes another knock in a lacklustre draw at Preston Park.

Lee Simpson evades Bredon defence When Alan was asked if the photographer had covered the game, the answer came back, "He'll have been hard-pushed to record any highlights in that game". Perfect. Picture courtesy of Peter Robins.

Tetbury Town Reserves 4 v 2 Kingswood Reserves
Danny Sharpe bagged all four goals in a return to form for the Reserves at the Rec.

15 March - Saturday's Results

Brockworth Albion 1 v 1 Tetbury Town
Tetbury's championship challenge was dented on Saturday when they could only manage a 1-1 draw at 8th placed Brockworth Albion.

Tetbury had by far the better of the 1st half and a move down the left wing involving Weston and Pegler enabled the ball to be hit across the Brockworth area for Simpson to drive home on 25 minutes.

The second half was a complete reversal, Brockworth stepped up the pace of their game and pressed Tetbury when they had possession. The inevitable was waiting to happen and Brockworth got their equaliser on 75 mins with a tremendous strike from 25 yards following an indecisive pass in the Tetbury midfield. Tetbury can feel this was 2 points lost rather than a point gained. Full report follows.

Tetbury Town Reserves 3 v 4 Uley
On paper, this was a surprising defeat for the Reserves, who beat Uley away, 3-0 just six weeks ago. Having gone 2-0 up at the Rec, it looked like business as usual. The wheels well and truly came off after that as the team conceded 4 goals to trail 4-2 until 8 minutes from time when we pulled one back. At least two chances came and went and the final score remained 4-3 to Uley. Carl was bemused when we spoke to him

Reserves v Uley
Goals came from Dan Lees and Danny Sharpe(2)

The Beeches 6 v 2 Tetbury Town 'A'
Maybe it's something in the water. The Thirds (playing in white, below) were 2-1 at half-time against a resurgent The Beeches but playing into the wind in the second half proved their undoing over in Crencester this weekend.
Rich Horton (in white) v The Beeches

The Kingshill Sports Complex pitches are larger than the Thirds are used to and a talented Beeches team used the width to good advantage, playing a slick passing game that was just too much.

6 March - Tetbury 'A' - Cup Finalists

Tetbury Town 'A' 2 v 1 Bibury Reserves
The Thirds deservedly won a place in the GFA County Cup Final this afternoon with a hard fought victory against the unbeaten leaders of Cirencester League Division 2. The team will face C&G AFC, who beat Stratton United 3-1, in the final.
Shirty in action against Bibury
Hard to single out anyone in a solid performance at the Rec with goals from George Harding and Tom Deakin.

Tetbury Town 1 v 0 Shortwood United Reserves
Rich Jones strikes the winning goal
The Firsts go back on top of Northern Senior Division One following their 1-0 victory over a very young Shortwood side. The goal came from a Rich Jones strike captured above, picture courtesy of Marc Giddings.

Tibberton United 2 v 2 Tetbury Town Reserves
Down to 10 men after 20 minutes following a last man foul in the penalty area didnt help the cause today and as a result the Reserves were only able to manage a draw, with goals from Scott Seal and a Pawlowski penalty.

Tetbury Town 'A' 0 v 3 Ashton Keynes
The chance of a Tetbury/Avonvale derby semi-final at the Corinium Stadium is not to be, following the Thirds defeat at home to Ashton Keynes this afternoon in the The Alexcars Cirencester Senior Charities Cup Quarter-Final. Next week is the GFA County Cup Semi-Final at home to Bibury Reserves.

20th February - Saturday's Results

Tetbury Town 1 v 1 Dursley Town
A Phil Hall equaliser salvaged a point in a game that Tetbury should and would have won but for the spoiling tactics of a physical Dursley Town side. In all fairness, we will encounter this type of football more often should we gain entry to the County League next season. Look out for a more detailed report. Image below shows Phil Hall scoring the important equaliser. Phil Hall Equalises

Claims for a second goal were turned down when it was deemed that the ball did not cross the line. Judge for yourself in the Club Gallery.

Tetbury Town Reserves 2 v 4 Horsley United
The Reserves went down to second-placed Horsley United at the Rec. More details to follow.

16 February - Players Race Night

The fundraising committee have arranged a Race Night to take place at the Clubhouse this Saturday night (20th) with the First Race starting at 7.45 pm. Hot food provided by Peggy! All proceeds will go towards the End of Season Annual Presentation with a view to keeping ticket prices down.

Simply put, if this event does not raise the required funds then the ticket price for the end of year celebration will have to increase significantly! The ball is in your possession, Ladies and Gentlemen!

14 February - Firsts Beat League Leaders Away

Longlevens AFC 2 - 4 Tetbury Town
The Firsts played and won a big game yesterday. League leaders and reigning Champions Longlevens are a hard team to overcome at any time but Town knew how much was resting on them putting in a quality performance in this top-of-the-table clash.

Coaley Rovers 1 - 7 Tetbury Town Reserves
Carl described this game as 'weird' and rightly so. It's fair to say that Coaley have had better seasons and having been beaten 9 - 0 by us less than a week ago, a change in tactics was in order, but to field a side composing of 5 at the back and 5 up front was interesting to say the least.
Sharpe...Goal!!
Not the best game to watch from all accounts, goals came from Sharpe 2, Freeman 2, Lloyd, Alley and Harding. Job done! Pictures in the gallery and above, courtesy of Marc Giddings

Tetbury Town 'A' 1 - 3 Ashton Keynes
The Thirds were back at Preston Park on Saturday to take on well-placed Ashton Keynes. Looking to keep their place in Division One of the Cirencester League, the team will be pleased to hear that none of the teams around them gained points this weekend. More information if and when available.

7 February - Reserves Reach Semi-Final

Tetbury Town Reserves 9 - 0 Coaley Rovers
It could so easily have been twenty. A bagful of goals and some excellent football sees the Reserves win a home tie against Randwick in the Stroud Charity Cup semi-final following their demolition of a poor Coaley side today.

6 February - Saturday Results

Lydbrook Athletic 1 - 1 Tetbury Town
The Firsts remain well-placed in second place just behind Longlevens, after another trip to the Forest

Tetbury Town Reserves 2 - 1 Quedgeley Wanderers
The Reserves continued their campaign with another excellent performance against a battling Quedgeley side. In a hard fought encounter, goals from Glenn Freeman and Rob Cook helped to bring another 3 points and keeps Carl and the lads tucked in behind the leading group with 2 games in hand.

Tetbury Town 'A' 3 - 3 South Cerney
The Thirds entertained South Cerney at Preston Park on Saturday and the first half saw Tetbury press Cerney's goal and play some entertaining football. However Cerney soaked up the pressure and scored from a 20 yard strike to take an early lead. Drawing level with a slick move on the right, finished off by Dan Lees, Town then took the initiative and went into the dressing room at half time with a 2 - 1 lead that gave them a solid platform to build on in the second 45.Thirds v Cerney
As has often been the case in the past, Tetbury were slow out of the blocks and the second half saw a marked change with South Cerney starting the stronger and equalising early. Tetbury then had a player dismissed for deliberate hand-ball and the resulting penalty saw Cerney re-take the lead at 3-2. With Cerney back in the ascendancy the home side had to battle fiercely to stay in the game and young Jimmy Eddolls in the Tetbury goal is worthy of a mention.

Cerney then handed Tetbury a lifeline when they too had a player dismissed, this time for dissent. A mad last 10 minutes saw chances at both ends but it was Tetbury's James Meacham who held his nerve and slotted in the equaliser with 5 minutes to go. Manager, Jason Williams was duly proud of his young side's performance against a very strong Cerney team.

31 January - Saturday Results

Broadwell Amateurs 5 - 3 Tetbury Town
The Firsts slip to second place behind Longevens after their defeat in the Forest

Uley 0 - 3 Tetbury Town Reserves
Tetbury Town Reserves continued their winning streak on Saturday by beating Uley 3-0 in a game that really showed the potential of team's new young players as well as the experience of its more established players.

The game marked the team's third win in a row without conceding any goals (they beat Dursley 3-0 on Boxing Day and Wootton Under Edge 8-0 on Janurary 23rd). It started slowly with Tetbury playing uphill into the sun and neither team creating many chances. However, solid defending from Andy Whitehead, Mike Jackson, a clean sheet from goalkeeper Andy Cooke a good pairing of 16 year old Glenn Freeman and Dave Law in midfield and tireless work from wingers Andy Baker and Scott Seale helped to give Tetbury the upper hand.

Glenn Freeman

Facing downhill in the second half, Tetbury created chances with Ben Lloyd winning the ball and crossing for captain Danny Sharpe (now back on frightening form after months off with a broken leg) to make it 1-0, then scoring one himself. Byron Alley never stopped running and worked well with Sharpe who scored again to make it a comfortable 3-0 win.

This weekend Tetbury are at home, to Quedgely, a tough top table clash, then away on Sunday to Coaley in the quarter finals of the Stroud charity cup. Pictures from the game, courtesy of Marc (Giddings), are in the Club gallery

Oaksey P - P Tetbury Town 'A'
The Thirds game against Oaksey was postponed at 13.45 yesterday due to a frozen pitch

24 January - Its Great To Be Back

After the enforced lay-off because of the 'Big Freeze' you'd expect perhaps just a little rustiness, but if yesterday's results are anything to go by all our teams left the blocks as sharp as ever.

Wotton Rovers 0 - 2 Tetbury Town
The Firsts remain at the top of GNSL 1 after yesterday's victory at struggling Wotton.

Tetbury Town Reserves 8 - 0 Wotton Rovers Reserves
Four goals from Byron, and 4 more from Ben, Danny, Scott and late addition to the squad, George Harding engulfed Wotton with a performance combining great football and a gritty determintation to succeed. The Reserves are back with a vengeance!

Staunton & Corse Reserves 1 - 2 Tetbury Town 'A'
The Thirds County Cup run rolls on to a semi-final encounter with Bibury Reserves following their trip to the Welsh border yesterday. Goals from Lee Jones and Ryan Leather.

23 January - Back to the Football

The Firsts and Reserves take on their opposing squads from Wotton Rovers today. The Firsts are the ones travelling away for a 14.00 kick off. The Reserves are at the Rec, also kicking off at 14.00. The Thirds travel to Staunton & Corse towards the Forest in their GFA County Cup Quarter Final tie.

Further good news is that training will take place at Rednock School, Dursley for 4 weeks, commencing next Wednesday 27 January. Times to be confirmed. Have a good weekend

The Reserves are away at Quedgeley following their 3-0 Boxing Day defeat of Dursley Town Reserves. The Thirds travel to Staunton & Corse from the North Glos League Division 2 in the GFA County Cup Quarter Final

27 December - Fancy Dress Night Pictures In Gallery

Thanks to Dave Norris for the pictures of the Fancy Dress night out on the 12th raising funds for Tetbury Hospital.

Fancy Dress 2009

The remainder are now in the gallery.

26 December - Boxing Day

Boxing Day...also known as the Feast of St Stephen, when in olden days church alms-boxes were opened and the contents given to the poor. This custom turned into the giving of Christmas boxes, which were gifts of food, money or other items to household servants and then to public tradesmen, such as postmen and dustmen.

History lesson over. Let's hope that the Reserves give Dursley Town Reserves their Christmas Box this afternoon in the Stroud Division 2 game. The clubhouse, as previously mentioned, is open from 3 pm.

25 December - Happy Christmas!

Father ChristmasHappy Christmas from everyone associated with Tetbury Town Football Club. Thank you to players, members, parents and our sponsors...have a great day.

The "new, recently refurbished" Clubhouse will be open on Boxing Day from 3pm. If you haven't already seen this fantastic facility we now have why not pop down there for a social chat over a drink or two? Danny & Trolly are your barmen on the day but they could do with a break every now and again, if you are able to do an hour or so behind the bar I know it would be very much appreciated give Trolly a call on 07730 606 553 or Danny on 07967 630 393.

Merry Christmas all . . .

12 December - Saturday's Results

Stonehouse Town 3 - 3 Tetbury Town

Not the best performance of the season and a draw was a fair result in this GNSL Division 1 encounter. It leaves us at the top of the table but Longlevens are not far behind with a game in hand

Tetbury Town Reserves 3 - 5 Stonehouse Town Reserves

A lack of overall fitness resulted in Tetbury Reserves losing their first league game at home in three years when they were beaten by a much younger, fitter Stonehouse team. Despite a battling first half performance which saw Tetbury coming from behind twice to equalise and eventually take a 3-2 lead, the team ultimately ran out of steam in the second half and conceded three more goals, therefore giving the points to Old Town. Tetbury's Byron Alley and James Sherwood both got their names on the score sheet, but Man of the Match was without doubt Rich Norris - the oldest player on the pitch and the only one who never stopped running. Manager Carl Wait had strong words to say about fitness levels after the match, pointing out that turning up for training every week is what wins you the game, as well as a Man of the Match title.

Ashton Keynes 5 - 1 Tetbury Town 'A'

Jason's modesty shines out like a shaft of gold when he says "...we got our ar*es kicked by a very good Ashton team". A Sharpe penalty was a consolation.

5 December - Firsts Keep Top Slot

Tetbury Town 3 - 1 Ramblers
The Firsts met 2nd placed Ramblers at Preston Park this afternoon in increasingly worsening conditions but three goals from Phil Hall brought the sunshine back to town in an emphatic 3 - 1 win that consolidates their position at the top of the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League. Cast your minds back to this time last year when we were languishing in 12th place.

Arlingham 2 - 6 Tetbury Town 'A'
The Third team travelled to Arlingham this afternoon and a Danny Sharpe hat-trick and goals form Ryan Leather, Tom Deakin and an individual opening goal from Paul Silk, beating three and scoring with his right, takes the 'A' team to the Quarter Finals of the GFA County Cup Minor(North)...and yes, it does say Paul Silk!

2 December - 2009 Christmas Fancy Dress

This year's fancy dress night will take place on December 12. No particular theme this year just give it your best. Wives, girlfriends and partners are all welcome on one of the biggest, most fun fundraisers in the Club calendar

Meet in the Crown at 7pm, have a couple and then the traditional 'wander' round town before finishing off at the Greyhound with a disco provided by Tracey. Good night guaranteed.

2 December - Gallery Back

The Club Gallery is back on line and to celebrate there are some new pictures from the Youth section, courtesy of one of the parents.

Under 10 v Ashton Keynes

I'm sure he won't mind the name dropping...Marc Giddings is a photographer with The Sun newspaper and it shows in the quality of his pictures which we hope will grace our website for some time to come.

Take a look, there's some good stuff on show.

November 28 - Tetbury Go Top!

Bredon 1 - 2 Tetbury Town
The Firsts sit proudly atop the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League this evening following their away victory at Bredon.

Tetbury Town Reserves 4 - 1 Tibberton United
After a break of several weeks, the Reserves came back well at Preston Park this afternoon. Goals from Scott Seal, Rob Cook, James Sherwood and an own goal sealed the three points.

November 26 - Clubhouse Refurbishment

Following the fire at the Clubhouse in May, the place is currently being put back together. In recent weeks the bar has managed to open and run without too much disruption.

The bar itself is now closed for a refit and as a result will be out of action until further notice. The Crown Inn at the top of Gumstool Hill has kindly said we are welcome to use their 'facilities' until we're back up and running. There will be post match food (chips) so spread the word, The Crown is the venue of choice following the game!

November 21 - Saturday Results

Tetbury Town 2 - 2 Brockworth Albion
In challenging conditions up at Preston Park, the Firsts picked up a point against mid-table Brockworth this afternoon. A missed penalty at 0-0 and the loss of sub Nick Pegler following two bookable offences didn't help Tetbury's cause and, according to those in the know, 2-2 was a fair result. Town move up a place, back to third, in the league.

Avonvale United 5 - 3 Tetbury Town 'A'

The Thirds bowed out of the CIA Arthur Shipway Memorial Cup in a repeat of last week's fixture against high-flying Avonvale United after extra time at Shipton Moyne. With the score at 3-3 after 90 minutes, two goals in extra-time finished Tetbury's chances of further progression. We're assuming that Avonvale won't be complaining to the authorities this week.

November 10 - Codes of Conduct

The Club's and Coaches' Codes of Conduct are now available. Codes for Players and Spectators to follow.

November 8 - Underdogs become Cup Overlords!

The Under 14s put their league woes behind them yesterday in their GFA County Cup 2nd Round tie away at Division 1 Stratton Youth.

In what must have been a nail-biting finale the Tetbury lads and their heroic keeper, Sam put paid to Stratton's cup hopes with a 5-4 penalties victory. With the teams deadlocked at 1-1 after extra-time it was down to the wire with a penalty shoot-out, which are nerve-wracking affairs at any level.

Manager Alastair had this to say on the U14 Forum today, "Great battling and great pens all round lads to finish them off and with Sam the Cat in goal, what's not to like? MoM Sam - no questions asked"

November 7 - Firsts Bounce Back

Tetbury Town 4 - 1 Gala Wilton
Last week, following a strong first-half performance, the Firsts ran out of steam and paid the price. For a time, at Preston Park this afternoon, it looked as though there might be a repeat. Chances weren't taken in the first-half and instead of being 2-0 up Tetbury conceded early in the second-half and were looking for some composure at 1-1.

Goals from Rich Jones, Ali Russell with an inch-perfect strike into the top right hand corner, Lee Simpson and Phil Hall turned the game around and gave the Firsts a 4-1 victory making sure that Tetbury stay in contention in Northern Senior League Division 1

Real Fairford 3 - 1 Tetbury Town 'A'
Another defeat, sadly for the Thirds, this time against Real Fairford leaves them perched just above the bottom slot in Cirencester League Division 1 and highlights the difference in standard between the two divisions.

November 5 - With A Bang For Bonfire Night...

Jason and Jenna Hoare are proud to anounce the birth of their son Oliver yesterday morning. No news on weight but we can assume that mother and baby are doing well!

Heartfelt congratulations from all at TTFC!

November 5 - Upcoming Fixtures

This weekend the Firsts are at home to Gala Wilton, the Reserves are without a game as the Whiteshill United fixture has been postponed because of continuing work at the Clubhouse and with it a lack of shower facilities. The Thirds travel to Real Fairford.

October 27 - George and Luke Chosen for League Squad

Luke and George - U11Two players from Tetbury Town's Under 11 squad have been selected to play in the Gloucestershire Mini League's League Representatives team. George and Luke took part in a trials day organised by the League, where they beat stiff competition to secure their places in the Under 11s team.

Ian Chapman, manager of Tetbury Town's Under 11s, says: "Representing the League will give George and Luke a first rate opportunity to develop their skills and play football in some really nice venues. We're all really proud of them and hope they enjoy the experience."

The boys will join their new team mates for a training session in early December in readiness for the team's first game, which should take place before Christmas.

October 27 - Weekend Senior Round-Up

Tetbury Town 1 - 1 Woodmancote
A Steve Robertson goal helped the Firsts to a draw against Woodmancote of the Cheltenham League in a friendly at Preston Park at the weekend.

Kings Stanley 3 - 5 Tetbury Town Reserves
Carl Wait, Reserve team manager was justly proud of his squad as they beat Kings Stanley to progress to the next stage of the Stroud Charity Cup.

Randwick Reserves 1 - 6 Tetbury Town 'A'
Having gone to Randwick in the same fixture last season on a very hot day in September with only 11 players and being beaten 6-0, Jason and Simon were chuffed to be able to put things straight this year in this GFA County Cup fixture. Goals came from Danny Sharpe, Lee Jones, Didi Jackson, Dan Lees, Tom Deakin and Rich Horton.

Under 14s Need More Players

Our current U14s squad are looking to strengthen their team in all positions. We are also looking for a Goalkeeper to join our team. We currently play league games every Sunday, and last year we were champions of our division.

If you are interested or would like a fresh start with a new team, please contact Alastair Hirst 07802 529593. Why not join us at training - we train 6.30-7.30 every Wednesday at Westonbirt Sports Centre (from 28th Oct).

20 October - Last Saturday's Results

Tetbury Town 1 - 1 Longlevens
A point against the defending champions was the result up at Preston Park on an increasingly cold afternoon. Not sure how Doug saw the outcome.

Horsley United 2 - 0 Tetbury Town Reserves

A poor performance against Horsley, Carl quoted as saying, 'We were beaten up'...enough said.

Tetbury Town 'A' 5 - 4 Oakridge (AET)
A hat-trick from Danny Sharpe gave the Thirds extra-time at the Rec this afternoon and one each from Liam Lavis and Andy Baker finished off the job. The result takes them into the second round of the Arthur Shipway Cup and what looks like a home tie against local rivals Avonvale United who received a bye today.

17 October - Choice of Two Today

Two senior games at home today; the Firsts take on Longlevens at Preston Park. Kick-Off 3pm. There's always been a very healthy rivalry between Town and Longlevens so you can almost guarantee a cracking afternoon's entertainment. For the first time in a long time we sit above Longlevens in the league so it will be interesting to see how the afternoon pans out.

Down at the Rec with a 2pm kick-off is a Cirencester League Arthur Shipway Memorial Cup match between the Thirds and equally longstanding rivals, Oakridge. Having beaten Oakridge in the League this season when we came back from 3-1 down to win 5-3, the Thirds will be looking to progress to the next round.

Coming Up - A Right Royal Feast

There is a veritable feast of football on Sunday and all are invited to watch our youth teams in action.

On the mini pitch the Under 10s are in action with a cup match against Penhill Allstars. KO. 10.30am. On the youth pitch there are 2 games. First the Under 13s take on Ramsbury in a league match. KO 10.30am, followed by the Under 14s playing Shaw 'A' in a league game. KO 12.00. On the adult pitch there will be a training match between the Under 15s and Under 16s.

We look forward to seeing you there.

October 12 - Andy Cook - Thirds Goalkeeper

HospitalAs a result of a collision between Andy Cook and Guy Halliday in the Bibury game, Andy was admitted to Cheltenham Hospital with suspected internal bleeding

The good news is that there is no internal bleeding but Andy is suffering from a badly bruised kidney and ribs and will be kept in until Tuesday when it is hoped that he will be fit enough to be discharged. Keep a look out for him and wish him well.

October 10 - Senior Results

The Firsts earned a very pleasing 3 points up at Preston Park in the early Autumn sunshine this afternoon. A Phil Hall strike midway through the second-half gave them a step up to third place in the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division 1 and leaves them unbeaten at home, relishing the visit of long-standing rivals Longlevens next week.

Over at Bibury the Thirds were on the losing end against the No 2. side who, before the game, were forecasting an 8 to 10-0 victory. Bibury may have won the game 3-2 but, by all accounts, they were pretty ordinary. Having taken the lead Tetbury saw Bibury equalise to leave the score 1-1 at half-time. Two quick goals from Bibury could have killed Tetbury off but a Dominic Jackson penalty gave the scoreline some respectability and stifled the Bibury arrogance.

Last Weekend Round Up

Goals from Aaron Gilbert, Rich Jones and Phil Hall saw Broadwell Amateurs defeated at Preston Park last Saturday. Reported as a 3-0 defeat on the GNSL website, Town were, most definitely, in receipt of the three points.

The Reserves suffered their first defeat of the season away at Stroud League Division 1 side Ebley Omega in their County Cup, losing 4-0.

The Thirds season gets tougher as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat at Stratton United. Another tough encounter awaits them at Bibury this coming Saturday

The Ladies travelled to AEK Boco in Bristol on Sunday and suffered heavily, finishing the game with only 8 players on the pitch.

The news gets better if we start the Youth section round-up with the Under 9s. They sit proudly at the top of their NWYML Division having defeated Swindon Supermarine 11-2. Have a look at their reports page to see who shone in the game that brings their goal difference to 21 so far this season. Elsewhere, the weekend was also a disappointing one for our younger sides with only the Under 16s registering a win with a 3-0 victory at home over Croft Juniors A.

October 2 - Saturday Senior Games

The Firsts are the only team at home tomorrow, playing Broadwell Amateurs up at Preston Park, kick off 3pm.

The Reserves are at Ebley in the County Cup and the Thirds travel to Cirencester to play the other newly promoted side, Stratton United.

The squad lists finally arrived and are now published in the usual place.

September 28 - Saturday's Results

No senior football in Tetbury this last Saturday with all 3 teams away, two taking part in County Cup ties and the other continuing their unbeaten run in the league

Two Phil Hall strikes weren't enough to take the Firsts further in their County Cup as they lost 3-2 at second-division Soudley AFC. The Reserves go top of Stroud League Division Two after defeating Thornbury Town Reserves 3-1 with goals from Byron Alley (2) and Tom Deakin. Carl must be pleased, despite his team conceding their first competitive goal of the season.

The Thirds progressed to the next stage of their County Cup competition by defeating Stroud League Division 6 side, Trident Reserves 6-1, goals coming from a James Meacham hat-trick, Simon Stevens (2) and Lee Jones. Top stuff!

September 21 - Senior Round-Up

The Firsts beat Wotton Rovers 4-1 at Preston Park. Goals came from Nick Passmore, Rich Jones and Phil Hall (2).

The Reserves played Wotton Reserves and gained another 3 points and achieved a third clean sheet in their 3-0 away victory. Goals courtesy of Byron Alley, James Sherwood and Ben Lloyd.

The Thirds lost 4-1 away at Poulton.

September 14 - Weekend Round-Up

Girls TeamThe Firsts had a day off on Saturday because their opponents, Sharpness, were involved in the Reg Davis Cup

The Reserves played their first League game of season and started in some style, defeating a lacklustre Coaley Rovers side 6-0. With 3 disallowed goals and some rattling of the woodwork, it could have been a lot more. Goals came from Byron (3), Danny Wait, Pavo and Deaks. Great performances from everyone.

At the Rec the Thirds were busy dismantling CHQ United. Another very good performance with some great football being played. Rich Norris was solid in the middle and the introduction of Didi Jackson was a master stroke. He got a couple, with Dan Lees, Andy Baker and Rich Horton getting the others.

The Ladies came back from an early conceded goal to beat Abbeymead Rovers 3-2 at Preston Park yesterday. Goals came form Maggie O'Connell, Katy Edwards and Amy Bryan.

Pictured are Tetbury Town Girls (Hannah, Charlie, Katie, Zoe, Lily, Katie and Elena) who travelled to South Marston to play Swindon Spitfires in their first friendly of the season and only their second game together.

They lost the game 6-1 but the confidence they gained in a stirring second-half performance will surely stand them in good stead for the future. Well done, everyone!

The Under 11s in their second game in 3 days lost to Wotton Rovers Lions 3-1 despite taking an early lead against the run of play. Wotton soon regained the initiative to lead 2-1 at half-time. Tetbury fought hard in the second half but couldn't break through and a third Wotton goal sealed the 3 (or is it 4) points.

11 September - Family BBQ This Weekend

On the forecast of good weather for Saturday, there will be a family barbeque at the Clubhouse starting about 4pm

By the way, clicking anywhere in the header will take you to the home page.

AnnouncementThe senior players' meeting scheduled for this Thursday 10th September is back on at Preston Park. Start time is still 6.30pm.

The meeting which will be chaired by Mike Harding will also be attended by all Senior Men's Team Managers. As before, you are strongly encouraged to attend.

September 7 - Weekend Round-Up

Jason HoareA James Sherwood goal separated the teams in the Stroud Charity Cup match at Preston Park yesterday afternoon. The margin could have been greater had Danny Wait and Byron Alley been able to put chances away late in the game.

Carl was very pleased with the superb team effort, perfect preparation for the first league game of the season against Coaley Rovers next Saturday.

On Saturday the Firsts beat Barnwood United for the second time in 3 weeks. Having gone behind and having had a perfectly-timed Phil Hall equaliser ruled offside, the players kept their heads, unlike some, and goals followed from Jason, Phil and Tony to finish the afternoon with a 3-1 scoreline

The Thirds sadly didn't do so well down at the Rec, losing to The Beeches 2-1 down to some sloppy defending and a needless penalty. Goal came from Dave Law.

The Ladies went to Longlevens Greyhounds in their first league game of the season. They came away with a point in a 3-3 draw with goals from Trudie Avis, Maggie O'Connell and Katy Edwards. Player of the Match was awarded to Maggie O'Connell

On the youth side the Under 9s had a long trip to Marlborough for their first ever league game and ended up as the youth sections only winners with a superb 11-4 victory. Congratulations to all concerned.

The Under 10s went down 0-4 at Cirencester although Jon Cooper was very heartened by the performance. The Under 13s lost to a strong Chippenham Town 0-6, while the Under 14s got beaten by a very strong Highworth Town 1-7. The Under 15s travelled to Highworth Town and thanks to a Charlie Davies headed equalizer, came away with a hard fought 2-2 draw after coming back from two down at half time. Both Under 16 and Under 17 games were postponed.

4 September - Players Meeting

AnnouncementAll players who have signed on for the Senior Mens' teams are invited to a meeting at Preston Park next Thursday 10th September at 6.30pm. It will take place before training starts. The meeting will primarily be concerned with the squad selection policy and will be chaired by Mike Harding. You are strongly encouraged to attend.

1 September - Kingshill Sports 4 v 1 Tetbury Town 'A'

Tetbury took the lead from a Liam Lavis 25-yarder but then missed 3 or 4 good chances that would have sealed this Cirencester Division 1 game early. Kingshill got one back just before half-time after some sloppy back post marking.

Second half, Sports came out stronger, scoring two quick goals that effectively finished Town off. A fourth with the last kick of the game was the icing on their cake.

Jason said, "We must quickly learn to take all of our chances and not just one in six". Next game is against The Beeches at home on Saturday.

29 August - New Kit for Under 9s & Under 10s

R & J PearceThe newly formed Tetbury Town Under 9 and 10s teams are already off to a flying start in their first league seasons thanks to the kit sponsorship for both teams by local electrical and plumbing engineers R & J Pearce Ltd. Team Coaches Jon Cooper, Steve McKenzie and Steve Raines are pictured with Julian and Robin Pearce and the players in their new kit

The Under 9s are looking for players for the new season. Training is at 6pm on Wednesdays at the Rec. Ask for Steve or ring him on 07917 800429 for further details.

29 August - Star F.C. 3 v 1 Tetbury Town

A Phil Hall goal was the only consolation as the Firsts are defeated away at Star F.C.

29 August - Tetbury Town 'A' 2 v 2 Oaksey

Liam LavisA disappointing result for the Thirds up at Preston Park this afternoon. 2-0 up at half-time with goals from Andy Baker and Michael Jackson, Tetbury started the second-half with the wind at their backs, looking to increase their lead.

Oaksey pulled one back in the 70th minute and a goalkeeping error in the dying seconds left the final score at 2-2. A definite case of points dropped in this one. Next game away to Kingshill Sports on Tuesday.

27 August - Squad Announcements

NewsFrom today onwards team squads selected by Doug, Carl and Jason, following training, will appear on the forum associated with each team as soon as possible after training.

This weekend's squads are now available for the Firsts v Star F.C. and the Thirds game against Oaksey. Please encourage everyone to use the forum to find out if they have been selected. It is hoped that this method will slowly replace the need to phone/text individual players.

If there is any doubt the forum should be your first port of call. Look in the "TTFC Senior Section" under your team, e.g. "First Team".

25 August - Tetbury Town 'A' 5 v 3 Oakridge

Deaksy scores from the spotTonight the Thirds started their campaign in Cirencester League Division One with a home fixture against another newly promoted club, and old rivals, Oakridge.

Tom Deakin opened the scoring for Tetbury but Oakridge replied twice to go 2-1 ahead at half-time. When Tetbury conceded a third it looked as though there was no coming back but 2 further goals from Deaksy and 1 each from Jake Pegler and Michael Jackson puts the Thirds at the top of the table tonight. They'll savour it while they can. Saturday sees the visit of Oaksey.

20 August - Longlevens 3 v 1 Tetbury Town

Lee Jones

A 70th minute consolation goal from Nick Pegler was all that came out of the Reg Davis Memorial Cup Second Round encounter with Longlevens last night. With a bare eleven the scoreline flattered us, by all accounts.

Up at Preston Park the Thirds had a final preparations fixture against the new Under 17s side. Good to see some players returning from a season on the dark side and to see a squad with the majority under the age of 30.

19 August - Reg Davis Cup Round 2

Byron in action against Longlevens 2007Following the 5 - 3 victory over Ramblers last week, the Firsts are away at Gloucester side Longlevens tonight in the second round of the Reg Davis Memorial Cup.

In the third such encounter in as many seasons, Town will be looking for progression to the third round following a solid pre-season and the recent 5 - 2 win over Barnwood United. Last season's GNSL Champions and Reg Davis Cup winners, Longlevens will be looking to repeat last season's success.

Also tonight, the Thirds will play the Under 17 side in a friendly up at Preston Park, kick-off is 6.30pm

17 August - Tetbury Town 5 v 2 Barnwood United

In their campaign to retain the Stroud Charity Cup, the Firsts beat Barnwood 5 - 2 at Preston Park today. With a Phil Hall hat-trick and a pair from Nick Pegler Barnwood never posed a serious threat. H-T 5 - 1.

12 August - Tetbury Town 5 v 3 Ramblers

The Firsts progressed to the second round of the Reg Davis Memorial Cup by beating Ramblers at Preston Park tonight. Nick Pegler opened the scoring for Town only to see the lead squandered and for Town to end up 3 - 1 down with 20 minutes to go.

A penalty from Tony Oakley started the comeback with Lee Simpson scoring an absolute screamer to level the scores. Phil Hall rounded off the revival with a pair to leave Town with the prospect of a second round encounter with Longlevens.

8 August - Reserves Seeking Linesman

Carl Wait, Reserves Manager is looking for a willing volunteer to serve as linesman for the forthcoming season. If you or anyone you know is interested give him a call on 07736 551391

1 August - Tetbury Town 2 v 0 Kings Stanley

Kings Stanley LogoIn the third and final pre-season run out before the first round of the Reg Davis Cup, the Firsts played last season's Glos County League Runners Up and League Cup Winners, Kings Stanley at Preston Park this afternoon.

A couple of good performances against Brimscombe last week and Chipping Sodbury on 18 July went a long way towards preparing the squad for their 2-0 victory. over a team that finished at the sharp end of the County League last season. Full Match Report

Next game is Wednesday 5 August when the Thirds play Horsley United Reserves in a pre-season friendly at Preston Park.

Tetbury Fiesta - 12 July

Tetbury FiestaSunday 12th July saw the second Tetbury Fiesta at the Rec where the Football Club was asked to contribute to the day's proceedings. A number of the town's voluntary organisations were present with their tents and stalls offering a vast array of goods, from Thai food to jewellery to bottles of Cider. The Mayor was rustling up participants for his 'Wellie Wanging' competition while the Winstones ice cream van was doing a bumper trade.

The Rec's resident sports clubs were very prominent outside their respective Clubhouses; the Rugby Club were running a Pimm's tent and our Football Club was offering a relaxed atmosphere where people could sit under the covered patio area or adjoining marquee and enjoy a Dry Sherry or two with some Bar-B-Q food, all whilst watching the football skills and shooting time trials that had been organised by the Youth FC coaches.

All these activities were going on around the perimeter of the Rec ensuring that everybody who attended the Fiesta was thoroughly entertained, and if that wasn't enough then there was the main music stage which provided some fantastic live music from a number of local bands all afternoon and on into the evening. The money raised on the day obviously helps the organisations who set up their stalls with a percentage being returned to the Fiesta which will be passed on to selected charities.

Our Football Club did enjoy the luxury of packed house enjoying the day. This has got to be down to the extensive time and effort put in by a small band of people so a massive "thank you"goes to Trolly, Marie, Danny & Michelle for all the work they did in organising the stocks, the running of the bar and also the Bar-B-Q on the day. These guys were there at 8.30am in the morning putting up marquees and sorting out the stock and were also the last to leave at 11.00pm that night ensuring that all was secure and tidy following the days events. They were then back the following morning to take down and pack away the two Football Club marquees.

A terrific day, an enjoyable event where the sun shone and everybody had a great time but if it wasn't for the small group of very conscientious guys mentioned above it wouldn't have happened. This team needs to get bigger and the workload spread a little wider.

If you can offer a little help in whatever way you are able (it's only an hour every so often, perhaps not even once a month) then please let me know, or one day we could be in the situation where we cannot manage these sorts of events. Food for thought.

An Invitation

BoysForget for a moment that we enjoy the enviable position of being the biggest sports club in the area, that from next season we will have more than 15 teams, from Under 7s through to Seniors competing in a variety of leagues in Gloucestershire and North Wiltshire and forget that we have recently gained permission to develop our facilities at Preston Park on Cirencester Road.

Instead, take a minute or two to think about what Tetbury Town Football Club offers away from the field of play. With a licensed Clubhouse in prime position on the edge of the Recreation Ground we have an enviable place where you can enjoy a quiet drink with family and friends during the coming Summer months. With competitive bar prices and a location where your kids can play while you enjoy a glass of what you fancy, it's a great place to be. Dave NorrisDuring the year the Club organises Social Events for its Members and in the last few months we have enjoyed Quiz Nights, Poker Tournaments, Golf Days and the occasional Barbeque.

To enjoy all this you need to be a Member of Tetbury Town Football Club. Of course, you don't have to don shorts and boots or be able to kick a ball but you do need to be part of the team! Click on the Membership Card on the right to download an application form. Once completed hand it to any committee member. Alternatively come down to the Clubhouse on opening nights (published here in advance) and ask for an application form. For the remainder of 2009 the introductory social membership fee is £5.

Remember, this is for non-players only. If you sign on to play for TTFC you automatically become a member of the Club.

Preston Park Development

On Saturday 13th June at 9am we require a work party at Preston Park to carefully take down the Dugouts. The roof and timbers are to be saved, but all the block-work is to be disposed of. If you can spare a couple of hours to help with this that morning it would be very much appreciated.

Once the railings to go around the main pitch have been delivered we will require another work party to install them and also lay a concrete hard standing/path around the pitch. The dates for this are at present unknown as delivery from the supplier have yet to be confirmed, but again if you think you could help with this work party let Mike Harding know (07970 109170) and he'll put you on the list.

It could be hard work but it also could be a bit of fun, and knowing the character of TTFC everyone will muck in and do their bit to enable the club to progress.

Youth Trials

The next round of Youth Trials will be taking place on Father's Day - Sunday 21st June.
