5th September - Tetbury Town 5 - 2 Hardwick

This was the first game of the new season for Tetbury Town’s U16 team but after a nervous start the lads settled down well, especially after Connor Wood lobbed the keeper to score the first goal. A flurry of goals follows with Ant Hillman scoring from a free kick and a third following soon after when Wood’s challenge on the keeper landed the ball at Jamie Warner’s feet. He calmly slotted it home with his left foot. Wood also scored the fourth goal, this time when he ran onto a through ball, smoothly moved it from his left foot to his right and then toe poked it past the oncoming keeper. Tetbury Town’s fifth goal was scored by Jack Lake who picked up on a cross from Joe Hemming to strike the ball into the net. Team manager Gareth Davies says he’s delighted with this positive start after such a hard season last year. Everyone played well and did their bit to get the result.

25th April - Abbeymeads 5 - 3 Tetbury Town

For the second time in a week Tetbury’s opposition was Abbeymeads who were looking to gain revenge for last week’s defeat. Yet it was Tetbury who started with the upper hand when Ryan Leathers’ long range effort left the home keeper stranded way off his line. Abbeymeads got themselves back into the game, going from a goal down to 2-1 up due to some generous Tetbury defending. But just before half time, Tetbury got back on level terms when Ed Acott burst through and finished from a tight angle.

The second half turned into a real end of season fair with lots of mistakes and very little quality football, which allowed the home side to score three more goals.   Leather was once again on target for Tetbury, bringing the final score to 5-3. Good performances from Chris Linnell, Joe Woodley, Glen Freeman and Callum McCloskey were the plus points to come from this game.

21st April - Chippenham 1 - 0 Tetbury Town

Tetbury’s title ambitions were dealt a blow on Wednesday evening when the team went down 1-0 to a very good Chippenham side. The game was evenly balanced, with two very good sides cancelling each other out in both midfield and defence. However, the game was settled late into the second half when a mix up in the Tetbury defence left on of the home side’s forwards with a simple tap in. The visitors thought they had rescued a point with almost the last kick of the game when Ben Deakin let loose a tremendous shot from all of 30 yards out that crashed onto the crossbar and back into the grateful arms of the home keeper. Tetbury must now pick themselves up for the return fixture with Abbeymeads on Sunday.

18th April - Tetbury Town 2 - 1 Abbeymeads

Tetbury’s push towards the top of the league continued on Sunday with a hard fought game at home to Abbeymeads .After a quiet start the game burst into life when Joe Snell brought down the Abbeymeads striker, who then picked himself up and blasted home the spot kick. This seemed to shake Tetbury into life and just on the stroke of half time an inswinging corner was tapped home on the far post by Pawel Rozwadowski. The second half saw Tetbury take control and another quality corner from Josh Hoare picked out Chris Linnell, who headed in from close range. Tetbury then dominated the rest of the half restricting the visitors to just the odd break and giving the home side a well deserved win.

11 April - Tetbury Town 4 - 0 Old Town

Tetbury returned to winning ways on Sunday with a comfortable 4-0 victory against Old Town. After a fairly even opening to the game the home side began to take control. With Tom Mason and Glen Freeman running the midfield and creating some good chances it was only a matter of time before Tetbury took the lead. The goal finally came when Ed Acott burst through and scored from a tight angle. The second half started with Tetbury still in command and the points were sealed when Josh Hoare cracked home a glorious volley from 30 yards. The icing was put on the performance with a fine strike from Ryan Leather and a second from Hoare. Tetbury must take this good form into their last few games and push hard and put pressure on the top teams.

March 28 - Tetbury Town 1 - 1  Barbury

Sunday’s game at Barbury was a tough encounter that produced little quality football but plenty of effort. The pitch was grassy but also very bumpy, which gave both teams trouble. Despite battling hard to gain the upper hand in the early stages neither team managed to take control and very few chances were created. Although Chris Linnell, Tom Mason and Dan Sandal were working hard in midfield and Joe Woodley, Callum McCloskey and Pawel Rozwadoski were strong at the back, the game had all the makings of a goalless draw. But late in the second half a fine strike from the edge of the box gave Joe Snell no chance and Barbury took the lead. This spurred Tetbury on and they then had their best spell of the game. It was no surprise when a defence-splitting pass from Linnell was seized on by Josh Hoare who raced away, rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into an empty net. The draw was probably the result both teams deserved for all the effort they put in.

21 March - Tetbury Town 7 - 0  Wootton Bassett

Tetbury’s recent good run continued on Sunday with a comfortable seven goal victory at home to Wootton Bassett. In a game they totally dominated the game from start to finish, Tetbury opened the scoring when Kieron Waite slotted home from close in. Ed Acott then helped himself to a hatrick before half time and when Ryan Leather scored, the game was effectively over as a contest. There was one more goal before half time – from Chris Linnell scoring his first for the club.

The second half was much like the first. Tetbury were on cruise control with Ben Deakin, who created four of the sevengoals, continuing to enjoy himself, Josh Hoare and Glen Freeman totally dominating the midfield and any Bassett attacks being quickly snuffed out by the solid back three of Callum McCluskey, Joe Woodley and Pawel Rozwadowski. The only suprise of the second half was that Tetbury only added one more goal - a fourth for Ed Acott.

14 March - Tetbury Town 4-1 Barbury

Tetbury Town's long awaited clash with Barbury never really lived up to the hype the match had generated when it took place on the Rec on Sunday morning. The game was over as a contest within 20 minutes thanks to an outstanding performance from Tetbury, which swept them into a three goal lead. The first came after a defensive mix up left Keiron Waite all alone in front of goal, and he gratefuly tapped home. The second quickly followed after Waite was tripped up in the box and Josh Hoare stepped forward to drive home the spot kick. Another defensive error gave Waite the chance to score Tetbury's third when once again he was generously left alone in front of the goal and duly obliged by slotting the ball home.

The second half started in much the same vein with Hoare's corner glanced home by Glenn Freeman. Every player on the team did their bit to secure Tetbury’s victory by showing great team spirit and fight. Tetbury were solid at the back, disciplined and creative in midfield and strong, physical and accurate upfront. Special mention goes to Callum McCloskey, Ryan Leather, Ed Acott and Chris Linnell for their fine performances - and it was good to see Tom Mason back in action after a long break through injury. Managers Carl Wait and Daz were rightly proud of the team and are looking forward to next week’s home game against Wootton Bassett.

7 March - TETBURY TOWN 3 - 0 SHAW

Tetbury took control of this game right from the kick off and it was no great surprise when they took the lead. Josh Hoare’s twenty yard strike gave the Shaw keeper no chance and from then on Tetbury continued to dominate. A fine run from Ben Deakin set up Ryan Leather for the second goal, which sent the team in at half time on a very positive note.

The second half was much the same as the first with Tetbury in control and Shaw restricted to the odd break. The game was sealed when a quality cross from Deakin was flicked on by Kieran Waite for Hoare to tap in on the far post. A good all round team effort delivered this result, with special mention to Joe Woodley, Glen Freeman, PAV and J Snell who all put in great performances.

7 February - Tetbury Town 3 – 1 Greenmeadows

Tetburys league season got underway again on Sunday with a competitive home game against Greenmeadow. The first half was very even with few clear cut chances and both defences well on top. Tetbury’s Chris Linnell was having his best game of the season, while Pawel Rozwadowski, Sam Wilkins, Ben Deakin Ryan Leathe and Joe Woodley were also in good form. A swift passing move saw Ed Acott upended on the edge of the box, but Josh Hoare stepped up and crashed home the free kick.

Both sides worked hard in the second half but it was Tetbury that took charge with two quick goals, first when a Josh Hoare corner was headed home unchallenged by Glen Freeman and then when a Hoare free kick was fumbled by the keeper giving Kieran Waite the chance to tap home the rebound. Greenmeadow ended the game by getting the goal their performance deserved.

13 December Old Town 5–5 Tetbury Town

Tetbury returned to league action on Sunday with a tricky away game against Old Town, watched by a new management team. Tetbury started the game well but within 15 minutes were two goals down and a little disjointed. However, they got back into it after good passing from Sam Wilkins, Tom Mason and Joe Woodley allowed Josh Hoare to score from 35 yards. Kieran Waite followed up with another lob, this time from 25 yards, and the teams went in level at half time.

After the break Tetbury took the lead with a fine strike from Ed Acott but the joy was short lived as Old Town struck back with two quick goals. Tetbury levelled with another Ascott goal but again Old Town took the lead. It looked like they were going to take the points as well but with seconds to go Callum Endicott fired home a volley that once again levelled the score in what was a very entertaining game.

22 November - Tetbury Town 5 - 0 Kings Stanley

Tetbury progressed to the next round of the County Cup on Sunday with a comfortable 5 0 victory over Kings Stanley. They dominated the game from the start and were quickly into their stride. Joe Woodley caused problems down the left, while Glen Freeman and Sam Wilkins controlled the midfield and set up Tom Mason who struck a fierce shot that the keeper did well to save. Tetbury took the lead when Sam Wilkins rose high above the defence to head home. He added his second with a close range effort, while Josh Hoare scored the third with the aid of the post.

The second half saw Tetbury staying in control and snuffing out any Stanley breaks thanks to the dominate pairing of Rozwadowski and Linnell. A powerful run and cross from Hoare found Kieran Waite on the back post and he duly fired home. The final goal was a carbon copy of the fourth, this time with Ben Deakin providing the cross for Waite to tap in. A fine all round performance was capped by Mr McCloskey's sterling efforts to keep his son dry with the aid of a large umbrella.

15 November - Tetbury Town 1 – 3 Barbury

Tetbury made an early exit from the league cup after losing at home to Barbury. Barbury made the better start without creating any clear chances and rarely troubled stand-in keeper Callum McClosky. But it was late on in the first half when Barbury took the lead from an in swinging corner, which was headed home.

The second half was an even contest with Glenn Freeman and Tom Mason working well in midfield. Pavel and Joe Woodley looking more secure at the back but all their efforts failed to create many chances and it was no real surprise when Barbury doubled their lead, again with an inswinging corner that this time tapped in on the far post. Tetbury then had their best period of the game . Sam Wilkins working hard as did Ben Deakin and Josh Hoare but Barbury forced another corner from a rare break and somehow the ball sailed straight into the net. With the game now won, Barbury relaxed a little and gave away a free kick, which gave Josh Hoare the opportunity to stand up and take, and crash the ball home from 25 yards. Tetbury must now pick themselves up for the County Cup this weekend.

October 4 - Tetbury town 3 - 0 Croft A

Tetbury’s U16’s put in a great home performance against Croft A, with the team keeping good shape throughout. On the pitch for Tetbury were Joe Snell, Pav, Chris Lynell, Calum Mc Closkey, Joe Woodley, Tom Mason, Sam Wilkins, Glenn Freeman, Luke Slater, Rhino, Josh Hoare, Ben Deakin, Dan Sandell and Ed Adcott.

The first goal came from a thumping header from Captain Glenn Freeman. After good pressure from Tetbury, Josh Hoare scored a stunning 25 yarder, which put the score at 2-0 at half time.

In the second half Tom Mason was in fine form in the holding role and with the midfield five controlling the game, it looked a matter of time before Tetbury scored again. The goal came after positive running from Ed Adcott was rewarded with a penalty, which was coolly put away by Man of the Match Glenn Freeman. Chris Lynell, Pav and Tom Mason can be very pleased with the way they played.
