The Future of Football in Tetbury

Welcome to the webspace of Tetbury Town Youth Football Club. We provide football for boys and girls of all ages from 5 to 18 plus we are connected to Tetbury Town Senior Football Club for players that wish to progress into adult football.

We have a solid committee who work tirelessly behind the scenes to seek continued development of the club and all of our coaches are encouraged to push themselves to the highest possible certification.

The club encourages the players to maximise their potential and improve their fitness whilst competing at a level that keeps them interested and challenged. We have set extremely high standards of required behaviour and are delighted that this has resulted in a dramatic increase in new players joining the club.

Whilst the organic growth of the Youth division has been exceptional we are focused on continued growth ensuring that we remain the largest Youth sports club in the area.

Tetbury Fiesta Day – Prizes Needed!

On Sunday July 25th, Tetbury will be holding its annual Fiesta Day on the recreation ground. Marie Ware has offered to run a tombola and we need lots of lovely prizes to make this event the success it deserves to be. Can anybody help by donating a prize and/or cake please? These can be donated on the day, or given to Wayne at Coachfest or at his office in Charlton Road. Many thanks – and don’t forget to come along and enjoy yourselves.

COACHFEST Gets Underway

Tetbury Town Football Club’s Coachfest training programme for young players got underway last night at Preston Park, Tetbury.

More than 50 children aged between seven and 17 came along to take advantage of the free training sessions, hosted by Tetbury Town youth and senior team coaches, and assisted by players from the club’s first team. COACHFEST is running over the summer months to give existing and new youth team players a chance to hone their skills and techniques before the start of next season. All of the coaches and first team players taking part are giving their time very generously to encourage young players, regardless of their ability. The COACHFEST aim is to help all players maximize their potential and improve their fitness, while competing at a level that keeps them interested and challenged.

COACHFEST is a free event – and it’s good fun. Sessions take place from 6.30 pm to 8.00 pm every Wednesday throughout June and July at Preston Park. Those taking part learn skills and techniques covering all aspects of the beautiful game and sessions are tailored to all ages, providing something for everyone.

With World Cup fever about to strike, now’s your chance to actually play football and learn how to be as good as Beckham, Rooney etc, instead of just sitting around watching it!

TRIALS DAY – Are You Ready For It?

On Sunday, May 23rd, we will be holding our annual Trials Day at Preston Park to recruit new players of all ages. If you have friends – boys or girls – aged between 6 and 18 who you think might like to play for Tetbury Town, then encourage them to come along and join in the fun. The event is completely free of charge and there will be an opportunity to meet existing players and take part in a match. Parents will also be able to meet the team managers and learn more about the club and its ethos.

Trials Day starts at 11.00 am with matches for the younger children. All Youth players should now have details of their match times and we look forward to seeing all of you there.

COACHFEST – Don’t Miss Out On Improving Your Skills

TTYFC is running COACHFEST over the summer months, to give existing and new players a chance to hone their skills and techniques before the start of next season.

Once again this is a free event, which is being supported by a number of our coaches. Quality coaching sessions will take place from 6.30 pm to 8.00 pm every Wednesday throughout June and July at Tetbury Town’s Preston Park ground. Skills training will cover all aspects of the beautiful game and sessions will be tailored to all ages so that those taking part combine learning with enjoyment and fitness. Children from seven to 17 are welcome – all you need to do is turn up.

Wanted - All Your Tesco Vouchers!

The next time Tesco’s checkout people ask if you want the school’s vouchers they are currently handing out, please say YES – and then bring them along to the Clubhouse where we have a big collection box ready and waiting for them. We need these vouchers to buy new training equipment for the youth teams and we really would appreciate your help.

15 February - More Photos

Our photographer, Marc was out and about yesterday morning and the gallery now has pictures from the Under 10s 2-2 draw with Chiseldon and the Under 15s game against Cirencester Town.
Under 10s v Chiseldon
Pictures are available in return for a small donation to club funds

10 February - Thanks Master Maslin

Roman Maslin Following the recent Under 9 match against Shrivenham & Watchfield when resident photographer Marc Giddings was in attendance, we had some enquiries about the availability of pictures of the game from Ian Maslin whose son, Rowan, plays for Shrivenham. To cut a long story short, Marc was able to furnish Ian with a couple of pictures of Rowan in action and by way of thanks Ian has kindly given a very generous donation to the Youth section.

If you see Marc at any games, let everyone know that there is the chance of seeing some excellent action shots on the gallery soon after and they are available.

Thanks again to Ian and Rowan.

The clubhouse re-opens

Thanks to a huge amount of organisation and hard work, our clubhouse will be re-opening on Sunday following the serious fire that caused such enormous damage earlier this year. From 11am onwards we will be holding an open day so that everyone will have a chance to see the new, very much improved facilities.

Your support would be much appreciated and it would be fantastic if you and your children could come along. The bar will be open and we are hoping to fire up the BBQ. There will also be some football to watch as the Under 14s have a game scheduled.

Our new clubhouse is now so good that it is sure to be the envy of many a club. Come an see for yourself and be part of the celebration.

2 December - Gallery Back

The Club Gallery is back on line and to celebrate there are some new pictures from the Youth section, courtesy of one of the parents.

I'm sure he won't mind the name dropping...Marc Giddings is a photographer with The Sun newspaper and it shows in the quality of his pictures which we hope will grace our website for some time to come.

Take a look, there's some good stuff on show.

Congratulations to Charlie!

Well done to Tetbury Town U15 player Charlie Davies who has been chosen to play for Sir William Romney’s U15 Schools’ District and County football team. Charlie is usually upfront when he plays for Tetbury Town, but for Sir William Romney he is playing in the midfield. Congratulations, Charlie, from everyone in the club.

Under 9 Photographs

Marc Giddings, father of one of our Under 9s, has taken some great action shots of the boys in the last couple of games. They will be appearing in the Gallery soon. Thanks Marc

Website Updates

Sue Sillitoe In recent weeks, the website has benefited from the efforts of another willing volunteer who collates and edits the reports from the Youth section before passing them on for publishing on the web.

Sue (Sillitoe), who runs a PR business in Tetbury, can now update the website without having to rely on old lazybones. Please say 'hello' when you see her at the youth games.

November 8 - Underdogs become Cup Overlords!

The Under 14s put their league woes behind them yesterday in their GFA County Cup 2nd Round tie away at Division 1 Stratton Youth.

In what must have been a nail-biting finale the Tetbury lads and their heroic keeper, Sam put paid to Stratton's cup hopes with a 5-4 penalties victory. With the teams deadlocked at 1-1 after extra-time it was down to the wire with a penalty shoot-out, which are nerve-wracking affairs at any level

Manager Alastair had this to say on the U14 Forum today, "Great battling and great pens all round lads to finish them off and with Sam the Cat in goal, what's not to like? MoM Sam - no questions asked"

October 17 - Players & Goalkeeper needed - Tetbury Town U14s

Our current U14s squad are looking to strengthen their team in all positions. Plus we are looking for a Goalkeeper to join our team. We currently play league games every Sunday, and last year we were champions of our division. If you are interested or would like a fresh start with a new team, please contact Alastair Hirst 07802 529593, or go to www.tetburytownfc.org.uk Or alternatively why not join us at training - we train 6.30-7.30 every Wed at Westonbirt Sports Centre (from 28th Oct).

October 16 - Great News from Under 11s

Congratulations to George and Luke from our Under 11s who have been selected for a Mid-Gloucestershire Mini League representative side. More details will follow on their progress. Well done, boys!

Coming Up - A Right Royal Feast

There is a veritable feast of football on Sunday and all are invited to watch our youth teams in action.

On the mini pitch the Under 10s are in action with a cup match against Penhill Allstars. KO. 10.30am. On the youth pitch there are 2 games. First the Under 13s take on Ramsbury in a league match. KO 10.30am, followed by the Under 14s playing Shaw 'A' in a league game. KO 12.00. On the adult pitch there will be a training match between the Under 15s and Under 16s.

We look forward to seeing you there.

October 10 - Last Sunday

It came to our notice that last Sunday's game for the Under 10s marked the lads' first victory in the League and that, quite rightly, the boys and Jon, their manager were over the moon.

The report was posted Monday, but sadly we don't get to read them all. So to Jon and his squad...Travis, Billy F, Ewan, Joe, Laurence, Billy W, Keziah, Tom, Josh and George..a VERY BIG WELL DONE!

October 2 - Note to all Youth Coaches

Those who have submitted reports in the last couple of weeks will see them published over the course of the weekend. Thanks for your patience.

Match Reports

Report pages have been added for Under 11 and Under 14. As the season gets properly under way it would be good to see reports for the other age groups

Youth Trials A Success

TTFC Youth held a trial morning so new players and parents could come along and see for themselves what it is to be a member of a great club like Tetbury Town.

With all teams represented it was a fantastic sight to see the Rec full of boys and girls having a good time in fantastic weather. Our thanks go to all the coaches and current players who gave up their time to ensure that all new players were made to feel welcome and enjoy their football, and at least twelve new players trialled on the day, including two for the mini mini’s (U7’s) who will be running a team next year.

Again, our thanks go to all the coaches for all their work to make sure the day was possible, and to Marie and Hayley for dealing with the refreshments without much warning.

We hope everyone enjoyed themselves as we will be holding another similar morning on Fathers Day June 21st.

The Future is Bright

The youth section will have two more teams in league action next year, as a huge influx of young players have ensured that TTFC will be entering teams at Under 9 and Under 10 in the North Wilts Junior League next year. This picture shows most of our new stars-to-be with coaches Jon Cooper, Steve Raines and Paul MacKenzie.

U13 Claim League Title

After a 1-9 win over Malmesbury on Tuesday 26 April and a home walkover against Ramsbury the following Saturday, Tetbury Town U13s were finally confirmed as champions of their North Wilts League. It was an impressive season for Town with 21 wins and only 3 losses, including 17 straight wins since the start of November. They were also on fire in front of goal scoring 145 times in 24 games, including a 97 partnership between captain Josh Newman (60) and Harry Dowdeswell (37).

"The players are really looking forward to picking up the trophy next Sunday in Swindon, and its all credit to the hard work and effort they've put in over the last two seasons." said manager Alastair Hirst.

"We've seen some really tough matches this year, but at each hurdle the team have responded. With 55 goals in the last five games they were on a roll and to be honest nothing was going to stop them then!" said coach Chris Wands

Back Row: Alastair Hirst (Manager), Keir Davies, Angus Milne, Matthew Clout, Josh Newman, Brad Willougby, Sam Krayem-Wood, James Pullen, Jonny Hodgson, Chris Wands (Coach).

Front Row: Fraser Hirst, Lewis Pawlowski, Harry Dowdeswell, Calum Wands, Alex Whiting, Josh Bennett, Sam Beard.

Message From Youth Chairman - Raising funds for TTFC

Tetbury Town Football Club need your help in raising funds for the club. Many clubs we compete with charge very high levels of signing on fees some in excess of £200 per season. We are lucky that we have fantastic volunteers and sponsors that ensure that we can make sure your child plays football without costing the parents a small fortune. However we need your help and the good news is that it is not going to cost you anything.

Please visit www.easyfundraising.org.uk and nominate Tetbury Town football Club. When you have registered email marketing@tetburytownfc.org.uk

Virtually all the shops you use will be available which means when you shop online via this site a percentage will go to the club. Registering is obviously voluntary but I fail to see any reason for not supporting this fantastic opportunity to get free money for the club. Please understand that there is absolutely no extra cost incurred. Whenever you make a purchase online see if you can do it via this site. Whether you are buying a CD, a book, insurance or a holiday you will be contributing to the future of the club. You will have your own running total and we intend to provide you with updates on a regular basis.

We will be monitoring the number of members that have registered. We currently have 19 members who have already raised nearly £200. We are aiming to have 100 members by Christmas. If we can achieve this then we will be talking about £1,000’s for the club. We have some amazing plans for the future of this club but can only achieve them with your help. Please don’t leave this to other parents to do. Make sure that you sign up ASAP and tell your friends and family. The club will be promoting this site over the next few months so don’t be surprised to get regular reminders!

Happy shopping!

Regards,
Gary Stoker

Youth Chairman

21 October 2008 - RESPECT BARRIERS - COMPULSORY

THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL BUT A MANDATORY REQUIREMENT FROM THE LEAGUE - As you are already aware one of the practical steps of the Respect Programme (NW&DL are a Respect League) is a designated spectators area, which must be put in place and enforced with immediate effect. All Team Managers should be aware of the necessity for a DSA and there will be no exception to this as in accordance with the Respect Programme. The league fully embraces all aspects of Respect particularly the use of designated spectator areas, which have been proven to have a positive effect on the behaviour of spectators without spoiling the atmosphere of the game. Please note that I have asked all the coaches to ensure that parents and supporters adhere to these new rules. The designated spectator areas will be clear for all to understand. The DSA will not spoil your enjoyment of the game however it will enhance the enjoyment for the players. If we break the rules home or away we will be punished by the league. So please respect the rules in all games.

Your co-operation is appreciated.

Gary Stoker
Youth Chairman
