Following a discussion with Gary, the Youth Chairman it was decided that the best way of managing and co-ordinating communication within the different age groups was to use the Forum. With that in mind new forums have been created for each group from Under 8 to Under 16. Gary will determine how they can best be utilised in consultation with coaches and parents. It seemed like such a good idea that new forums have been created for each of the 4 senior teams and the primary role will be to disseminate information relevant to each team, e.g. Squads for forthcoming games, travel arrangements for away games and the like.

Message from Youth Chairman - Gary Stoker
|
18 June 2008 |
First of all I would like to take this opportunity to say how delighted and honoured I am to have been elected as Chairman of the TTFC Youth section. I am really looking forward to the role and can’t wait until the start of the new season. Last season was a tremendous success both on and off the pitch and I would like to thank all the players, coaches and volunteers for their efforts. I am keen to make sure that the Youth Division really prospers in the 08/09 season and this can only be achieved if we all work together. Whilst I appreciate that we all lead busy lives I am keen that the same faces are not responsible for all the work and would ask all parents to think about what they can do however little that will help our club get stronger and even more impressive.
There are a number of roles that need filling urgently and are of great importance to all age groups and also to the club.
First Aider - If you are interested in becoming a first aider please speak to your child’s manager. The club will support you with the necessary formal training and your commitment will ensure that the team members receive the appropriate level of care.
Events Team - As the club grows we are totally focused on providing the very best equipment and facilities to reward the current crop of players and also to encourage new players to the club. This vision can only be achieved if we have a dedicated committee. Whilst the commitment in time is small the role is incredibly important for the future growth of the club. We need two parents from each age group. If you can make such a commitment please let your child’s manager know.
In summary we have something very special at Tetbury Town FC and it is imperative that we all pull together and hopefully contribute something to the future of the club.
Gary

Firsts and Reserve fixtures for 2008-09 are now published. Not sure how likely they are to change during the remainder of the pre-season but they'll be updated as soon as they are made public.

The U12 team photo has been added to the 2007-2008 page under Seasons. Revised sponsorship pack is currently in design and will be available on here soon. New inclusions for the forthcoming season include Match Ball sponsorship. Anyone interested in helping the club by way of sponsorship should contact Shaun on 01666 503999. Danny Sharpe and Leigh Atley are in the process drawing up an email list for inclusion in the ttfcinfo email bulletin which will keep you informed of all things orange during pre-season and beyond. This is a new feature for 2008-2009.

At Tuesday's players meeting it was confirmed that Cindi Beale and Julia Caton were stepping down from their respective roles for the forthcoming season. Cindi has done a terrific job as manager over the last few years, taking Tetbury Ladies to their highest league position ever and although she is not leaving the team, she will be missed as manager. From the girls, thank you for all you have done.
Gary Norris has been confirmed as the new manager and is hoping to take the ladies to the next level in women's football. With hopefully a fresh new look for the new season and renewed enthusiasm, the team a really excited for the future and look forward to working with Gary. Training starts Thursday 12th June, 7pm @ the Rec
Steph Hill is taking on the Club Secretary role and we're sure she will continue the excellent organisation that the team has.
Finally, the girls want to offer our thoughts to Cindi who is leaving us this week for back operation. We hope it all goes well and hope that her return to football isn't too far away. |

| After a two-week break following the Annual Presentation it's back to business. There will be reports from the AGM held on 19 May, pictures from the Presentation Evening and some Youth pictures appearing here over the next few days. Congratulations to Jason Williams and his team, Runners Up in the Tetbury Woolsack Races last Monday. There'll be a picture of them on the gallery, too. Season 2007/2008 added and Fixtures are clear in preparation for next season. |

| Dress Code
|
14 May 2008 |
| A few people have been asking what does ' Smart Casual' mean with regard to the dress code for the Presentation Evening on Saturday. This is a celebration of the Club's season and we should all be prepared to smarten up a bit without the need for a dinner suit or a collar and tie. The bottom line is definitely NO jeans and NO trainers. |

9 May 2008 |
With the season finally over for all teams in regular league competitions (Under 12 to the Firsts) we can look back on another properous one for Tetbury Town at all levels. Having lost key players and the management team of Stuart Freeman and Richard Norris the Firsts
came back strongly under new manager Tommy Dryden and assistant Phil Goulding to finish a creditable 8th in Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division 1. A strong performance at Lydbrook last week saw them bring 3 points home. Phil's report is available now.
The Reserves had a splendid season, finishing Runners Up in Stroud League Division 3. Carl, Jiggy, Gareth and Phil have done a tremendous job in harnessing the desire for success in the squad and translating that into a cohesive unit that lost only two games all season, one being the Semi-Final of the Stroud Charity Cup to a strong Taverners Reserves side. Division 2 football beckons
next season and it is thoroughly deserved.
The Thirds, following the disappointment of last season, started afresh in Division 2 of the Cirencester League this year and with the now traditional blend of old stagers and young hopefuls put on a satisfying performance to finish 4th. Without a permanent management team in place for the first half-dozen games, caretaker manager Mike Harding steered the team to 3 wins and 2 draws. Having been appointed in early October, Jason Williams and Simon Stevens maintained the early momentum. Semi-finalists in both Mills-Roberts and Junior Charities Cups (beaten by eventual winners Ashton Keynes), the squad has a lot to be proud of and next season should be another good one.
Tetbury Ladies secured 5th place in the Gloucestershire County Women's League Division 1. This is an extremely respectable achievement having been promoted last season and sees the ladies reach their highest position ever. Congratulations to the players and management on this achievement which is fully deserved. They celebrated their final match of the season against Dursley Town with an entertaining game for all. They continued the strength and determination shown at their last home game, by again scoring in injury time. Tetbury dominated the 2nd half of the match pushing Dursley further back, but against the run of play, Dursely scored in about the 90th minute. Maggie O'Connell put in an outstanding captain's performance and blasted in her 2nd goal of the game right before the final whistle. Final score 2-2.
The Youth sides continue to impress with 2 of the 4 achieving promotion in their respective North Wilts Youth and Minor League Divisions. The Under 12s completely turned their season round in February. Having lost 9 of their first 11 games, the boys were having a tough time of it. Following their 3-2 victory against Oaksey on February 17 they have not looked back winning every game to finish 4th in Division 3. The Under 13s were Runners Up in their Division 2 taking it to the last game of the season where they stumbled against the eventual winners. A fantastic season that will stand them in good stead as they move into the next age group. The Under 14s were Champions of their Division 2, again keeping us waiting until the last game to take the prize. The Under 15s had a tough time of it in the highest Division in their first season in the NWYML. Despite being relegated the boys won their last game of the season in style and are all keen to come back next season as Under 16s. |

2 May 2008 |
The Firsts were finally able to play their much postponed game away at Shortwood United Reserves on Monday and gave a good account of themselves to run out 2-0 winners. Assistant Manager, Phil Goulding has provided reports on the last couple of games so take a look on the Fixtures page. Tomorrow they travel to Lydbrook in their final game of the season.
Busy week on the Youth side with games being shuffled, re-shuffled and finally played in all the divisions. The tables are as up to date as can be expected based on the flurry of activity. As we approach the final games of the season the Under 12s made it 8 wins on the trot seeing off Shaw 'B' 7 -1 on Wednesday evening. Fourth place is dependent on Oaksey dropping a point in their last two games. The Under 15s play their final game on Sunday at home to Fairford Youth. The Under 14s play AFC Lydiard away this evening where a win will see them take the title. As previously reported the Under 13s play at noon on Sunday and before that the Under 12s will hope to finish the season on a high against Swindon Soccer Skills.
The Ladies finish their season on Sunday away at Dursley Town where a win will see them secure fourth place in Division 1of the County Womens League in their first season at this level. |

29 April 2008 |
The Under 12s moved into fourth place in NWYML Division 3 following their 2-1 defeat of Highworth Juniors last weekend with their 7th successive victory. A victory tonight against Shaw 'B' will go a long way towards cementing that position. The Under 13s and Under 14s are keeping everyone on the edge of their seats by leaving it until their last games to settle the Champions/Runners Up slots in their respective divisions. The Under 13s remain top having beaten Penhill Knights 2-1 at the weekend. Last night they drew 0-0 away at Hungerford Town. Second placed Shaw 'A' have a game on Friday where a win will take them to the top, 2 points ahead of Town. Tetbury play Shaw this Sunday at the Rec in the final game of the season so the boys are somewhat in control of their own destiny. Similarly the Under 14s are currently top of their division despite losing their first game of the season last Sunday 3-0 to AFC Barbury. They too are one point clear with second placed AFC Lydiard having a game in hand. The boys face AFC Lydiard away on Saturday in their last game of the season where a win will see them crowned Champions. With all this going on Youth Treasurer, Wayne Hillman has extended the following invitation to everyone:-
"Sunday 4th May sees the end of a succesful season for a couple of the clubs youth sides, and both the Under 12’s and Under 13’s would like club supporters to join them at the Rec for a ‘Bit Of A Do’.
The Under 12’s start the proceedings with a 10.30am kick-off against Swindon Soccer Skills, looking for a win to cement a fine fourth place finish in the league.
Following the Under 12’s match, Gareth's Under 13 team have a title decider against their nearest rivals, Shaw ‘A’, to determine the Division Two Championship. This should be a close, exciting match to keep the crowd entertained.
The barbeque will be fired up, and the bar will be open, so lets see a big crowd supporting the two sides."
Whilst on the subject of Youth Football, TTFC hosted the final of the Wally Smith U12 Cup last Friday evening when Wotton beat Thornbury. A big thank you to Darryl and Julie Hoare for taking on the organisation for this; to First Team Captain, Luke Bedwell for presenting the trophy; to John Warner for marking out the pitch and finally to Trolly Wood and Marie for running the barbeque. |

28 April 2008 |
| The Firsts drew their game at home to Broadwell Amateurs on Saturday in a game of two very distinct halves. Gaining a point in the 2-2 result, Town were lacklustre after the break having positively shone in the first half. More from assistant Phil Goulding to follow.
The Reserves finally finished as Runners-Up in Stroud League Division 3 following Kingswood Reserves demolition of Minchinhampton RDS Reserves 8-0. With six minutes to go the score was 6-0 so this one really did go to the wire. In their final game of the season the Thirds went down 9-0 at the hands of Beeches Reserves. Still in fourth place in Cirencester League Division 2
they may drop a place should Bibury Reserves beat Oaksey Reserves this coming Saturday. Clubs need to occasionaly look up that word 'integrity' in the dictionary and remind themselves that this is the amateur game. |
|
| Firsts Entertain Foresters
|
26 April 2008 |
The Firsts welcome Broadwell Amateurs to Preston Park this afternoon and will be looking to carry on where they left off midweek. Having beaten Broadwell 4-1 away from home in the second game of the season hopes must be high for a third consecutive victory and another 3 points
The Thirds finish their season this afternoon at the Rec against Beeches Reserves. Beaten 4-2 away in the very first game of the season Town will be looking to reverse that result and ensure 4th place in Cirencester League Division 2 |
|
| Reserves Disappointment
|
25 April 2008 |
Haven't had to report disappointment from the Reserves camp this season, until now. Last night they suffered only their second defeat of the season, losing 2-0 at home to Taverners Reserves in the semi-final of the Stroud Charity Cup. Joining both the Firsts and the Thirds who have both been beaten semi-finalists in competitions this season, it brings their season to an end. The outcome of Kingswood Reserves v Minchinhampton RDS Reserves tomorrow will determine their final position in the League. Minch supporters may well find their numbers swelled tomorrow at Kingswood!
The Firsts and Thirds have been in action this week in a busy end to the season. The Firsts beat Newton Heath 3-0 at Preston Park on Wednesday with goals from Phil Hall(2) and Nik Pegler. Moving up from 11th to 8th place in the league they have games against the teams they have just leapfrogged, Broadwell Amateurs (Saturday) and Shortwood United Reserves (Monday). Looks like a brighter end to the season.
The Thirds went over to Cirencester on Tuesday evening and for 70 minutes it looked as though they were going to do the double over second-placed Stratton United. 1-0 up at half-time they battled bravely until tired legs and the lack of substitutes contributed to their ultimate downfall by 3-1. A good performance that sets them up for another tough game this weekend against Beeches Reserves and another of those 'life's like a box of chocolates..' games. Special mention to Paul Silk in his first game for 2 seasons, in a sterling effort marking the very quick Portuguese lad and to Assistant Manager Simon Stevens for donning the orange and acting as our sole sub! |

| Looking Good
|
25 April 2008 |
Having promised an update Monday, problems with uploads to our service provider have caused this 4 day delay. Anyway here it is starting with the Ladies who celebrated with a win in their last home game on Sunday. After two recently away poor performances, Tetbury were looking to recreate the passion displayed the last time they played Newent Town in the first game of the season. The game was an enjoyable end to end spectacle that had people biting their nails to the end. Amy Bryan managed to secure all 3 points by scoring Tetbury's second goal, 2 minutes before the end of time, Tetbury winning 2-1. This puts Tetbury 5th in the Gloucestershire County Division 1. The Ladies will be pushing hard for all 3 points in their last game against Dursley to reach that fourth spot. Having been promoted to the first division last season, their objective was to stay up. With all the difficult challenges faced this season, finishing in the top half of the league is a commendable achievement.
The Under 9's beat Golden Valley 3-2 last Sunday. The Under 12s moved into fourth position in NWYML Division 3 last weekend following victories against Shrivenham & Watchfield (6-0) and Swindon Soccer Skills (7-2) the week before. This takes them to 6 victories on the trot. Check out Alistair's report of the Shrivenham game. Under 13s beat Hungerford Town 2-1 to remain 5 points clear in NWYML Division 2 (see Gareth's report). The major threat, Shaw 'A' are in 3rd place. Six points behind but with 2 games in hand Shaw visit Tetbury on the last day of the season, 4 May. Tetbury play Penhill this Sunday and then Hungerford Town which has yet to be re-arranged. The Under 14s followed their 15-4 defeat of Liden Community the previous week with a 2-0 victory over Shaw last Sunday that sees them 4 points clear at the top of their NWYML Division 2. They play 3rd placed AFC Barbury this Sunday and 2nd placed AFC Lydiard next Wednesday; another interesting end to the season! The hapless Under15s in the tough NWYML Divison 1 suffered defeat against their opponents again this week, Brunel Boys. Keep plugging, lads and look forward to next season when fortunes will surely change. |

| Indefatigable Spirit
|
20 April 2008 |
11 days ago the headline phrase was used to describe the Reserves, their outstanding season and as an indicator of what would be required in the upcoming week with 4 fixtures in 8 days including a cup quarter-final. Well just take a quick look..no, don't...take a LONG look at the Reserves fixtures page. They sit at the top of Stroud League Division 3, three points clear of Kingswood Reserves (who had been there for months) and with a 7 goal goal-difference advantage. Take a look at the results from last week; league wins of 4-0 (Henderson, Sharpe, Seal, Law), 4-0 (Wait D, Pawlowski, Lloyd B, Sharpe) and 9-0 (Lloyd B, Law, Whitehead, Wait D (5), o.g) yesterday in their final game plus a 2-1 win in the Stroud Charity Cup Quarter-Final on Thursday with 10 men following a red-card incident after 20 mins. The outcome of the championship rests with Kingswood who need to overcome Minchinhampton RDS Reserves by that 7 goal margin next Saturday in their final game of the season. The Reserves league campaign is over but get yourselves down to the Rec at 6.30pm on Thursday 24 April and support them in the Stroud Charity Cup Semi-Final against Taverners Reserves from Cirencester League Division 1. They deserve, nay, demand it!
The Firsts came back after an enforced 3 week break with a 3-2 home win against Sharpness yesterday with goals from Nik Peglar and Matt Stevens. With 4 league games still to play before season's end it will be interesting to hear what Tommy and Phil have to say about the day's performance
and their aspirations for the remainder of the season.
The Thirds had a busy week last week. Two games mid-week both against Bibury Reserves, winning the away encounter 4-1 with a hat-trick from Tom Henderson but losing the return fixture up at Preston Park by an unflattering 7-2 margin. End of season games during the week often tear the form-book to shreds; if anyone knows why, please put the answer on a postcard and send it to your repsective League Secretary! Yesterday they beat Ashton Keynes 3-2 at the Rec with goals from Tom Henderson (2) and Rob Cook. |
|
| Back on Track
|
11 April 2008 |
The Thirds finally got back to winning ways last night with a 3-1 home win over CHQ United Reserves at the Rec. Goals from Tom 'TJ' Henderson (2) and James Meacham and some fine goalkeeping from Gary Norris keeps Town in fourth place in Cirencester League Division 2. Still some concerns about the inability to take hard-earned chances. Last night there were no fewer than half a dozen one-on-ones with the opposing keeper that were squandered. No game tomorrow. Next outings are back-to-back fixtures with Bibury Reserves on Tuesday and Thursday next week followed by three tough games to close the season.
Yet another re-arrangement of the Firsts fixture with Shortwood United Reserves. Originally re-scheduled for 17 April, that date now cannot be made because of their first team's Hellenic League/Cup commitments. Looks like Monday 14 April but we await confirmation. |
|
| Top Two Clash
|
9 April 2008 |
The Reserves played Kingswood Reserves last night at Kingswood and after a monumental struggle fought back to win a point and stay equal on points with their opponents. Having gone 2-0 down and trailing 3-1 at half time they called upon every ounce of resolve available and, with goals coming from Kev Purnell, Scott Pawlowski (pen) and a Dave Law equaliser, finally drew 3-3. Kingswood play away to Berkeley Town Reserves then home to Quedgeley Wanderers and Minchinhampton RDS Reserves in their final 3 games. Town are away to Wickwar, home to Minchinhampton RDS Reserves and away to Sharpness Reserves in theirs. Add to the mix that Town's games all take place in the 8 days from 12-19 April with a Stroud Charity Cup Quarter Final with Dursley Town Reserves on the Thursday and you'd be forgiven for saying 'too much'. Their indefatigable spirit, however, may yet well propel them to greater achievement this season.
Website updates include all reports received to date, including outstanding Under 14 and a couple from Tommy and Phil on the last two First Team games (they work ok on IE7, Netscape 8, Firefox 2 or Opera 9 Web Browsers. Remember hover over icon..no need to click!). A long awaited addition is a photo in the gallery of the Under 14s in training tops sponsored by Reserve team player, Matt Stevens company MS Building and Renovation Ltd.
Pictured left are members of the Tetbury In Bloom Society with TTFC Chairman, Mike Harding following the planting of 30, mainly oak, saplings at Preston Park last Sunday. Left over from an event at Westonbirt Arboretum some time ago, the saplings have been nurtured by Eric Simpson and have been planted to create a small wooded area. The club has said it would like to work with the Tetbury in Bloom Society during the development of Preston Park to provide a pleasing aspect for visitors to the club and passers-by alike. | Reserves Promoted!
|
5 April 2008 |
Congratulations to the Reserves squad, their manager Carl Wait and assistants Gareth Davies and Dave Sharpe on securing promotion to Stroud League Division Two this afternoon after beating Dursley Town Reserves 3-2 at Dursley. Currently second place in the table and level on points with Kingswood who they play on Tuesday, there is every chance that they can go on to take the Championship.
The Firsts didnt have a game today and unless their postponed fixture against Shortwood United Reservers is re-arranged in the next two weeks they do not play again until April 19
Is the Thirds season going to fizzle out with little more than a whimper? Following their 2-1 defeat by Ashton Keynes in the Charities Cup Semi-Final on Tuesday they suffered the same result over at Chalford this afternoon. Consecutive defeats have not been a feature since the end of September. Today was the fourth in a row. With six games still to play in the league they need to stop the rot; failure to do so will see them lose their position in the table, a position they have held since the start of the year. They were nine points clear of their closest rivals a month ago with 2 semi-finals to look forward to; today they may still be four points up but they are looking decidedly unsteady and the trophy cabinet is bare. |

| Cup Night
|
1 April 2008 |
| In case you didn't know, The Thirds play in their second semi-final of the season tonight. They take on Ashton Keynes in the first semi of the Cirencester League Junior Charities Cup. Kick-Off is at 7pm at the Corinium Stadium, home of BGB Premier League Cirencester Town. Please go along and give Jason and the lads some support! |
|
| Reserves March On
|
1 April 2008 |
The Firsts remain in 10th place in Northern Senior League Division 1 by virtue of the fact that only 1 of the 5 teams below them won on Saturday. Losing 3-0 to Bishops Cleeve Reserves leaves them with 5 games remaining in what has been, to quote Chairman Mike Harding 'a topsy-turvy' season.
With 4 goals from Danny Sharpe (the second time this season) the Reserves, 1-0 down after 5 minutes, came back to demolish Quedgeley 6-1 at the Rec on Saturday. With five games remaining Town require three points to secure 2nd place in the table.
By the way, Danny, when it comes to fonts, size doesn't matter!
The Thirds went down 5-3 away at Taverners III. With only only one defeat against them this season, Tavs were always going to be a tough team to break down. Relying on well-seasoned players in favour of youth they prove uncompromising opponents who, despite their experience, can come unstuck in defence. Goals from Asa Weston, Danny Lees and Jerry Bloomfield were the highlights in a solid performance that despite the scoreline was a million miles from the lacklustre efforts of the previous Monday.
The Ladies secured First Division football in the Glos Womens County League next season with a 2-2 draw at Warden Hill and the Under 13s beat Stratton Youth 9-0 to remain 9 points clear in their North Withs Youth & Minor League Division. With 6 games still to play and with two closest rivals having 2 games in hand there's still work to be done. Reports for these games will be posted soon |
|
| Today's Games
|
30 March 2008 |
| The Reserves cup game against Dursley Town Reserves has been postponed for a second time. Dursley are unable to field the required number of players. The Ladies and Youth matches scheduled for today are all away. This morning the Under 12s notched up their fourth victory on the trot beating Shrivenham & Watchfield 6-4. This keeps them away from the relegation zone in 8th place above Penhill Knights. The Under 15s lost away to Liden Community and are now at the foot of NWYML Division 1. Top of the table Under 13s play bottom club Stratton Juniors. The Ladies are away at Warden Hill United. |
|
| This Weekend
|
29 March 2008 |
The Firsts are at home to Bishops Cleeve Reserves hoping to reverse the result from 10 days ago. Approaching the final 6 games of the season every point is precious. Consolidation is the name of the Firsts game this season so they can build for the future.
The Reserves have a tough weekend of football with a League game at home to Quedgeley Wanderers today and a Stroud Charity Cup Quarter Final at home to Dursley Town Reserves tomorrow.
The Thirds travel down the A46 to Nailsworth this afternoon to take on Taverners III in what could be romantically described as the third place play-off in the Mills Roberts Cup. Both beaten semi-finalists will be looking to gain the upper hand in this Cirencester League Division 2 game. Tavs, sharing top spot but with a game in hand will have their eyes on sole ownership of that position today whilst Town will be looking for a good result to buoy their confidence in readiness for their Charity Cup Semi-Final this coming Tuesday. |
|
|
24 March 2008 |
On Easter Monday morning, the Thirds fell to a 2-1 defeat to Corinium Sports in the second Mills Roberts Cup Semi-Final. It was clear from the outset that Corinium wanted that Final place more than we did and we were lucky to go in at half-time with the score still level at 0-0. Demonstrating a little more flair and determination at the start of the second-half Town took the lead from a well-taken goal from striker James Meacham. Shortly after, however, Corinium equalised with an excellent strike from just outside the box and soon made it 2-1 when an attempted clearance by keeper Gary Norris cannoned of the advancing forward and into the net. Desperate appeals for handball led to a consultation between referee and linesman but the goal stood. With time running out, Town had a Rob Cook equaliser ruled offside. Running from an onside position past retreating players made it a difficult decision for the linesman but, frankly, Town got the result they deserved. Away at Taverners III this Saturday before the Junior Charities Cup Semi-Final against Ashton Keynes on Tuesday 1 April at the Corinium Stadium, Cirencester. Kick Off is 7pm.
The Firsts drew 2-2 away at Sharpness last Saturday. Spoilt by the wind blowing straight down the length of the pitch, it was literally a game of two halves. Town started well with good defending at times and putting together some quality football ending with half chances on goal. Midway through the first half Sharpness had a corner which we failed to deal with and resulted in their first goal and five minutes later they got their second.
Coming out in the second half we played with higher tempo and determination and the wind!
We pressed Sharpness and a good ball forward found Rich Jones who put the ball in the net for our first goal. With our tails up we got at them again with a good ball to Nick Peglar who controlled it well and smashed home the equaliser to make it 2-2 In all both teams played well at times in the windy conditions; a good point away from home.
It was a great performance from the Reserves at home to Sharpness Reserves, said Manager Carl Wait. Coming back from 2-0 down, after a first half of swirling wind and snow and having given Sharpness their only 2 chances of the game, Dan Wait came on after half time and scored within 5 mins with Ben Lloyd equalising and 'TJ' coming on to bag the winner. It was a performance of team spirit and attitude that has been with this squad all season. A great comeback and another three points. Well done, lads! |

|
22 March 2008 |
Today the Firsts are away at Sharpness, if the snow and wind permit. Looking to put the midweek defeat by Bishops Cleeve Reserves behind them. Sharpness will be looking to do the same after a week off, having also lost to Bishops Cleeve in their last game.
The Reserves face Sharpness Reserves at home in their first encounter of the season. In an equally late first meeting last season Town were 3-2 victors. Sharpness did us a favour last week by beating top team Kingswood. This still leaves Town six points behind the leaders but now with two games in hand and the prospect of a thrilling end to the season. The Reserves are now masters of their own destiny and with the last game of the season away at Kingswood
it will go to the wire.
The Thirds have a day off today to prepare for their Mills-Roberts Cup Semi-Final against Corinium Sports on Easter Monday at Bibury. Kick-Off is 11.00 for anyone wishing to travel and support them. If successful they will meet league leaders Stratton United in the Final at the Corinium Stadium, home of Cirencester Town on April 29. Stratton beat Taverners 4-3 after extra time yesterday in the first semi. |

17 March 2008 |
This weekend was a quiet one. The only games played were senior games on Saturday, the remainder were postponed because of the persistent rain. The Firsts drew 0-0 against Brimscombe and Thrupp at Preston Park and as a result drop back to 10th place in GNSL Division 1
The Thirds beat South Cerney for the third time this season, this time it was 3-2, over at South Cerney. This was yet another occasion when the inability to finish consistently and an unerring knack of letting in daft goals could have cost them dearly. Having been 3-0 up at one stage and looking to finish Cerney completely by half-time; a goalkeeping error and, it has to be said, an unfortunate own-goal left them having to work hard in the last quarter to hang on to a winning margin. Next Monday morning's Mills-Roberts Cup Semi-Final against Corinium Sports to be played at Bibury is the next challenge. If your nerves can stand it go and give the Thirds your support.

| This Weekend
|
14 March 2008 |
Forgot to mention there are a couple of photos in the Gallery and one on the Team page of the Ladies squad that had the privelege of playing in the FA Cup at Wycombe Wanderers FC earlier in the season. This weekend the Ladies are away at Dursley Town hoping to improve on the 0-0 home draw last month.
The Firsts are at home to Brimscombe & Thrupp hoping to capitalise on last week's good away win at Kingswood.
whilst The Reserves have no game this week and will be at home to Sharpness Reserves next week.
The Thirds travel to South Cerney Reserves for the fourth encounter between the two sides this season. Tetbury are currently 2-1 up with solid cup wins over Cerney. With no-one being called to the Reserves and the return of the youngsters missing from last week
,they'll be looking to reverse the 3-0 defeat suffered at home in the League in early November.

| Gallery Updates
|
12 March 2008 |
|
Following a period of inertia there have been some small but not insignificant additions to a couple of team pages and the
Gallery. The Under 9s and Under13s team pages have team pictures. Wayne sent these ages ago. A similar situation with Under 11s, Danny sent individual pictures of the boys a long time ago. Further additions to the gallery are some pictures from the Stellenbosch Usiko Youth Project in South Africa. You may remember that last year
the Youth side of the Club sent some of our old kit there. Chairman, Mike Harding recently received a further letter and some more pictures. |

| Kingswood Double
|
10 March 2008 |
Following a string of defeats dating back to mid-January, the Firsts tasted victory away at Kingswood last Saturday. Having been 3-0 up at half-time, the final score was 3-2. The victory lifts them one place in the League. We hope they can can start a trend by doing it again against visitors Brimscombe and Thrupp this coming Saturday.
The Reserves completed the Kingswood double, beating their Reserves at the Rec. Dave Law, up from the Thirds for the day, bagged a couple in the 3-1 win that reduces the deficit to 6 points with a game in hand. With multiple games in hand over the following group of four, Tetbury and Kingswood look set to battle it out for the Championship. They meet again at Kingswood on April 5.
First of all let us congratulate Oaksey Reserves on their first win in a year. In a comedy of errors worthy of the Bard the Thirds came to grief in a 3-2 defeat at Oaksey. Its not that we played BADLY but their goals all came from bad mistakes and we missed the likes of Danny Lees, James Ogden, Lee Jones and the above-mentioned Dave Law. A lacklustre performance after a week off, square goalposts and a little complacency combined to bring us down to earth with a bump! We hope that lessons have been learned for next week away at South Cerney Reserves on that big pitch!
On Sunday, the Ladies drew 1-1 away at Bristol & West and remain in 6th place. The Under 12s won their 3rd successive game 2-1 away at Ramsbury so well done to them. The Under 13s demolished Shrivenham and Watchfield 6-1 and they are now nine points clear at the top of their division. Closest rivals Shaw 'A' lost heavily to 3rd placed Penhill Knights. The Under 14s drew with 3rd placed AFC Barbury 2-2 and remain in 2nd place. Leaders AFC Lydiard, two points clear at the top, didnt have a game this weekend. For those of you not using Internet Explorer 6 there are reports for Ladies and Under 13s on their Fixtures pages. We are working to find a workaround for the IE6 bug and get remaining reports online. |

| Jules is Back! |
7 March 2008 |
With the return of Julia Caton from Maternity Leave and a squad of 14 for the away game against Bristol & West this Sunday, things are looking up for the Ladies and their manager Cindi Beale. Welcome back Julia.
Tomorrow the Firsts and Reserves play their Kingswood counterparts in matches that are significant for both teams but for differing reasons. The Firsts need points to avoid getting too close to the relegation zone in GNSL Division 1 whereas the Reserves would like to close the gap on their opponents at the top of SDL Division 3 and open up the possibility of a challenge for the championship.
Having had a week off when they could least do with it the Thirds are back in action tomorrow at Oaksey Reserves. Jason and Simon will be looking for maximum points against a side that has yet to win a game this season.
At the time of writing the Under12s, 13s, and 14s all have games this weekend, against Ramsbury, Shrivenham & Watchfield and AFC Barbury respectively. The interesting game will be the Under 14s who are second in NWYML 2 against Barbury who are third. The U14s will be looking to regain top spot after their enforced breather last weekend and generate a five point buffer between the top two and the third placed team. It would leave them equal on points at the top but with a game in hand.

2 March 2008 |
The Firsts sadly fell at the next to last, losing 2-0 at home to Lydbrook Athletic in the County Cup Semi-Final. Two giveaway goals separated the teams and manager, Tommy Dryden, whilst disappointed
was looking at the positives that came out of the performance. Having recently lost players an unsettled squad played some reasonably good football and was in positive mood in the changing room afterwards. Efforts must now concentrate on the League and retaining Division 1 status.
The Reserves arguably dropped a couple of points away at Minchinhampton RDS Reserves drawing 1-1. Having said that their nearest rivals Berkeley Town lost so Tetbury remain 4 points clear of them with games in hand. Clash of the Titans next week when they take on leaders Kingswood Reserves at home. Having yet to play Kingswood this season, a couple of good results against them will close the gap at the top, enough to make a crack at the Division 3 title a reality.
Elsewhere this weekend the Under 13s won 2-1 away at Shaw 'B' so they are 6 points clear at the top of NWYML Division 2 but contenders Shaw 'A' in second have a couple of games in hand so there is still work to do.
|
|
|
2 March 2008 |
| Having made Mums cups of tea and taken them breakfast in bed the Under 13s are away at Shaw playing the third-placed 'B' team. They will be looking to increase their lead at the top of their NWYML Division. The Under 12, Under 14, Under 15 and Ladies teams have a week off this week, the Under 12s and Under 14s games having been postponed. Look out for U13s report later this afternoon. |

|
1 March 2008 |
| The Firsts entertain Lydbrook Athletic at Preston Park today in the GFA Senior Amateur Cup Semi-Final looking for a final encounter with either Sharpness or Barnwood United. We hope that Tommy has been able to re-kindle the spirit in the squad for the challenge ahead. Lydbrook have already been to Preston Park in the League and left for home with three points. Sitting in 3rd place in GNSL1, they'll also be looking for some silver for the trophy cabinet. The Reserves travel a few miles up the road to face next-to-bottom Minchinhampton RDS Reserves. As mentioned below there's no game for the Thirds this week. On the Youth side, as promised months ago, reports that Gareth, Nikki and Alistair have been sending to the Wilts & Glos Standard and me are being added...slowly. So far I have added Penhill Knights from last week for U12 and U13 and Ashton Keynes from January for the U14..just hover the mouse over the opponent marked with an asterisk to get a report of the game. More to follow this weekend. |
|
|
28 February 2008 |
| Following the second postponement of their home fixture with Beeches Reserves this weekend, Jason Williams's Thirds have a busy few weeks in prospect following its re-arrangement for April 26. With the chance of 2 Cup finals the team could face 12 matches in 36 days to finish their season. The old 'uns will struggle, that's for sure. |

Town Fall Foul of Slimbridge
|
25 February 2008 |
The Firsts suffered their biggest defeat of recent times at Slimbridge on Saturday losing 8-1. We don't know how many of the opposition would have been playing in the BGB Football League Division 1 this season had Slimbridge not withdrawn from that League but it would be a small crumb of comfort. Elsewhere the Reserves dispatched Alkerton Rangers 5-0 at the Rec and the Thirds moved into their second Semi-Final of the season by beating South Cerney Reserves 4-1 up at Preston Park. They will now
meet Ashton Keynes at the Corinium Stadium, Cirencester on 1 April. On Sunday there were 2 victories over Penhill Knights for the Under 12s and Under 13s. The Under 14s dispatched Marlborough Town 4-0 and at Preston Park the Ladies were unlucky to lose to 2nd place Oldland Abbotonians by a narrow 1-0 margin. Ladies manager, Cindi Beale was very pleased with the girls' performance. |
|
|
23 February 2008 |
|
The Firsts have probably the toughest challenge this week away to unbeaten league leaders, Slimbridge. The Reserves are at home to Alkerton Rangers who are currently propping up Stroud League Division 3. It's Junior Charities Cup day for the Thirds up at Preston Park in their 3rd encounter of the season with South Cerney Reserves. Difficult to predict the outcome of this one with Cerney winning the first game 3-0 at the Rec, only to come back a fortnight later in the Mills Roberts Cup to lose to us 4-0. Maybe it's a cup thing! |
|
| Town Drop Points at Home |
18 February 2008 |
Another disappointing result for the Firsts this weekend, drawing 0-0 with lowly Brockworth Albion. GNSL website is yet to be updated so can't see the effect this has on our position in the table. The Ladies drew with the same scoreline yesterday against bottom club Dursley Town and I imagine that comes as a bit of a disappointment to Cindi and the girls. The Reserves cup game against Dursley Town was postponed because of a frozen pitch yesterday. On Saturday the Thirds continued their winning streak against Kingshill SC Reserves. Having been 3-0 up at half-time they ended 3-2 victors. Talk about a game of two halves. We play good football but really need to take those hard-won chances and convert them to goals. It could have been at least 6 by half-time and possibly more. In the second half when fitness begins to tell we need that cushion. A harsh penalty decision and some sloppy defending near the six-yard box gave Kingshill a whiff of a point but some teams will punish us. Elsewhere the Under 12s recorded their 3rd win of a tough season beating Oaksey 3-2. Well done, lads. The Under 15s went to Pewsey Vale and lost in the last few minutes 1-0, having had two goals disallowed. By all accounts, probably their best performance of the season! Still on the youth side, the site now has all fixtures/results/tables for U12-U15. If they don't appear just refresh the page. Finally, The Valentine's Skittles Night was a great sucess. Brenda and Stuart Freeman won first prize of Champagne Dinner and a night's accommodation at the Snooty Fox Hotel. Leigh Atley and Richard Witchell were joint winners of the 'Killer' competition. The event raised £130 so a big thanks to Trolly, Marie and Lucy. |

| Today |
|
16 February 2008 - First of all, congratulations to Katriona and Andy on the birth of their second daughter, Elizabeth born 12 February and weighing a very healthy 9lbs 3oz. Mother and daughter are doing fine. On to the football; the Firsts are at home today to Brockworth Albion and Tommy will be looking to reverse the trend of the last few weeks. Brockworth, currently next to the foot of GNSL Division 1, won only their second game of the season last week against Shortwood United Reserves. The Reserves are involved in a cup game tomorrow against Dursley Town Reserves so have no league fixture today. The Thirds travel to Cirencester to play Kingshill SC Reserves looking to continue the form of the last few weeks and consolidate their position near the top of Cirencester League Division 2. |
|
| Kit Donated to Local School |
15 February 2008 - The youth section have donated two kits to Sir William Romneys School as part of an initative to help our local schools.
Pictured is Youth Chairman Dave Norris with John Farr, Head of P.E. at the school, together with the boys from Years 8 & 10 before their first matches in the new kit. Full size pictures can be seen in the Gallery

| Weekend Round Up |
 |
12 January 2008 - The Firsts are having a bit of a miserable time of it with their third successive defeat, this time at the hands of Longlevens AFC by 3-2. Their position in the league, however, remains unchanged. The Reserves dropped a couple of points away at Berkeley with a 2-2 draw but they remain in 2nd place in Stroud Division 3. The Thirds gave another impressive performance beating Ashton Keynes 2-1. A very solid team effort with everyone giving their best but a special mention to Andy Baker who ran and ran and ran and then ran some more. The Ladies did less well this week going down 5-0 to League leaders Cam Bulldogs. With an 11-1 win away at Liden Community the Under 14s remain at the top of NWYML Division 2 with a game in hand over 2nd placed AFC Lydiard and vastly superior goal difference. The U13s top their NWYML Division 2 following a 2-0 away win at Robins. They are 1 point ahead of Shaw A who have a game in hand. Shaw would have been their opponents this Sunday coming but the match has been postponed. The Under 12s sadly lost out at home to Marlborough Town |
|
| News Update |
|
10 February 2008 - The Under 11 side under the stewardship of Sharpe, Hall and Luce recorded a 4 - 0 win away at Randwick Hornets yesterday, their second win in three games. Things are on the up! This coming Saturday (16th) there is a Valentines Mixed Pairs Skittles Evening at the United Services Club in town. £5 per couple entry and the First Prize is a Champagne Dinner for two and 1 night's Accommodation at The Snooty Fox Hotel. 7.30 for an 8pm start. |
|
| Today's Games |
|
9 February 2008 - Following 2 defeats there's a tough game for the Firsts away at Longlevens this afternoon. Longlevens, currently 5th in Northern Senior League Div 1, haven't won a game since the end of December so they, too, will be keen to get back on track. The Reserves travel to Berkeley Town Reserves one place behind them in Stroud Division 3. A win today will maintain the distance between Town and their challengers as they approach the final straight of what is proving to be a pretty successful season. The Thirds travel to Ashton Keynes following their win against top of the table Stratton last week. With only one team since their Firsts withdrew from Northern Senior League Div 2 earlier in the season, Ashton Keynes's results have been inconsistent so, like Forrest Gump's box o' chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get! Have a good afternoon, everyone and see you in the Clubhouse later. |

| Another Gooseberry Bush Discovery |

4 February 2008 - On 23 January weighing in at 8lb 6oz, Michaela. Congratulations to Ladies Secretary and erstwhile goalkeeper, Jules Caton. |
|
| Round-Up (Last Couple of Weeks) |
|
4 February 2008 - Been away for a week so a bit to catch up on. Following the previous week's 6-1 victory over Bourton Rovers, the Firsts went to Star FC last week and lost 2-1. Another defeat at home to Cheltenham Civil Service this week sees them eighth in the table. The Reserves, Thirds and Ladies all scored victories the week before last. The Reserves beat Trident FC in a 7-goal game running out 4-3 winners. The Thirds progress to the next round of the Cirencester League Junior Charities Cup having dispatched Down Ampney Reserves 5-1 in the tie re-arranged from the previous week. The Ladies, in their first outing for over 2 months, beat Gloucester City 2nd XI 3-0. Gloucester were also their opponents in the last game they played in late November so it's 2 out of 2. This weekend saw the Reserves match at Dursley Town Reserves abandoned and the Thirds beat top-of-the-table Stratton United 3-2. The Ladies unfortunately lost to Forest of Dean in the League Cup yesterday by 4 goals to 2 |
|
| Firsts v Bourton Rovers |
|
19 January 2008 - Only one game again this weekend. The Firsts are at home to Bourton Rovers this afternoon at Preston Park. The Reserves game against Quedgeley Wanderers and the Thirds Cup tie against Down Ampney Reserves have fallen foul of the weather. The Thirds game against Down Ampney will now take place next week. |
|
| Found Under the Gooseberry Bush |
|
13 January 2008 - On 2 January weighing in at 7lb, Eve Grace. Congratulations to Emma and Asa Weston. Another search on 6 January revealed a girl tipping the scales at 9lb 5 oz; congratulations to Kirstie and Matt Stevens. Whilst on the subject of Mums & Children some of the Youth Team mothers attended training sessions, made cups of tea and sprayed hair (whatever that entailed) all for Children In Need and raised a very worthy £420. Congratulations to all concerned. |
|
| Reserves Game On |
|
12 January 2008 - The Firsts game at Lydbrook and the Thirds game against Chalford III this afternoon have been postponed because of the weather. Dave was out early this morning getting the bottom pitch at Preston Park ready for the Reserves game against Eastcombe and it will go ahead as scheduled. For anyone travelling, the game is not at the Rec in town but at the Cirencester Road ground. See location page for directions and map. |
|
| Weekend Round-Up |
|
08 January 2008 - Just goes to show what a little Christmas cheer does for you unless, of course you are in the Under 13s. The Firsts progressed to the County Cup semi-finals with a 5-1 victory at home to Newton Heath. Despite going behind in the first minute, Town rallied yet again to win with a comfortable margin. The Reserves shook the cobwebs off to cruise to a 7-0 victory over Wickwar Wanderers that sees them tucked in nicely behind the leaders in Stroud Division 3. Under14s won 7-0 on Sunday at the top pitch against Ashton Keynes and sadly the Under 13s suffered a big defeat at home to Ferndale Rodbourne in the Cup, the higher division side running out easy winners. |
|
| Youth Update |
|
04 January 2008 - As well as normal league games for the Youth resuming this weekend, the U13’s are playing in their League Cup Quarter Final at the Rec on Sunday kick off 11:00am against First Division opposition Ferndale Rodbourne. In 2 weeks on 20 January, having also reached the Quarter Final of the County Cup, they take on Brockworth Albion – also to be played at the Rec. Anyone with a Sunday morning free could come and see how we’re doing and enjoy a bacon roll and mug of tea pitch side at very reasonable rates with all profits going to the Club and Kids. |
|
| Thirds Game Postponed |
|
04 January 2008 - Happy New Year! The Thirds game against Bibury Reserves tomorrow is postponed. Bibury are involved in the County Cup and we were not informed of the postponement. Thanks to James Niblett for picking this up from the Standard. The Firsts are at home to Newton Heath in their County Cup Quarter Final and the Reserves are at home in the league to Wickwar Wanderers. |
